I was dissapointed with the reception I recieved, and the service was indeed so rude that I almost picked up my bag and just walked out.
Eventually I was given a room which had a wonderful view of the chaos below. The bathroom was clean and I had a bath and shower, and yes there was a plug for the bath. The TV had a good reception. There was also complimentary internet.
I stayed here three nights and ate in the restaurant each night as well as buffet breakfast, and found the food reasonably tasty, albeit slightly on the expensive side. The breakfast was complimentary.
The hotel has a massive mirrored lobby area that would have been trendy in the 1960's. The hotel staff after my initial experience were in fact extremely friendly although slightly on the slow side, proving that you can't always judge a book by its' cover.
Since my last visit to Dhaka, the traffic has increased by a colossal margin, so unless you have a need to be in the Kakrail area you will have to be prepared for long journey times. But if you need to go to several different parts of the city, it is quite central. There are also a lot of newer hotels in Dhaka, but despite everything I would probably still return to the Razmoni.
Though nothing against the hotel, but it is always good to carry your personal valuables with you and not leave it at any hotel.
There are many hotels in the city, in older areas like Joy Kali Lane where similar hotels cost as low as Taka 1000.
Bangladesh is a cheap place to travel with food being quite inexpensive. Rickshaw fares are high but you must learn the art of haggling.
I think food is cheap opposed to other review. But,food quality is below average. Rooms are generally clean.
I was there for two nights untill i move
brushing my teeth. Centralized aircon and if you set to a high fan speed, air from the other rooms is suck towards your room and unfortunately the persons occupying the rooms besides must be smoking like a barbecue pit. Set the fan at the slowest. Bed is so narrow that a wrong move and the cold floor would give a welcome kiss to your face. Tried to order 2 beers to my room and the guys tried to rob me with Tk1,500. Food is ok but go down at the road level and there is Bangladesh Fried Chicken which is better and cheaper. Hotel of last resort. Lock your luggage when you leave the room. I have a TSA pad lock which alerts if it was opened. Guess what, 2x i saw the alert tab popped-out.
When we are getting in to hotel there is security check. The security man one of the worse I have ever met. He seems to like giving us fever to do this job. He even try to sell cigarette!!!
Receptionist was very good. Always smilie and try to help us. To be honest on my travel experience she is one of the best receptionist I have ever met in Bangladesh.
Manager came he said as I am British Citizen why I don’t have my luggage with me ?!!! He was asking my ID I showed him my passport he even did not bother to look at it. Really ?!! As I have some friend with me I feel really embarrassed and did not make any argument.
The manager treat us like a criminals. Very bad manner & attitude. He doesn’t have any interest for customer or business.
