Located in the center of downtown and about a 40-minute drive from the airport, the Intercontinental Dhaka offers visitors a convenient and luxurious base from which to explore this complex and intriguing city. An easy stroll to the National Museum and many of the city’s other major tourist sites, the Intercontinental features up to date rooms, large marble baths, a modern staffed gym, and an elegant outdoor swimming pool complete with cabanas and bar service. Service throughout the hotel is excellent. Need a yoga mat delivered to your room? No problem. The shirts my husband sent out to be laundered came back better pressed than from our high priced Madison Avenue drycleaner in New York. The highly professional chief concierge was particularly helpful to us and could compete with his counterpart at the most high end hotel in Europe. His staff arranged private cars for us to and from the airport as well as several private tours. What makes the Intercontinental so special is its connection to Bangladesh history. Be sure to watch the short film clip that the hotel offers on its internal channel as well as to see the photographs displayed on its walls. As a first time visitor, who had read about Dhaka’s legendary traffic, I had initially been torn about where in town to stay. Closer to airport? Closet to downtown? With the new highway, this is the place to stay for sure.

This is perhaps the best hotel at present in Bangladesh. After they closed down in 2014, they renovated for 4 years, changed their entire interior, and re-opened in 2018 I think. I visited there in 2019 and 2022.
The rooms are great, very spacious with every amenity a 5 star can offer. Bathroom was very large with a nice tub. The room comes with a basket of varieties fresh fruits. Room accessories and bathroom accessories were great. I loved their sliding door style curtain, no light from outside will enter once fully closed. I had a Chargrilled Steak at room service, it was delicious.
The Check-In was pretty quick, the staffs were very cordial, they even offered a turndown service, which is not available which is not available with most hotels.
In 2022 we went just for dine in at the pool side bbq buffet to celebrate our 6th Marriage Anniversary. It was awesome, all the items were very good. They had a good variety of kebabs, shaslik, salads, grill, and desserts. I ate so much that I couldn't move for a bit. I
Only negative thing I can tell is that they reduced their size of the pool so much that it doesn't look like a 5 star pool, good to take photos, not good to take a dive or swim.

The spa is absolutely wonderful. The place was very clean, with soothing ambience. Fresh orange juice was offered upon check-in. Staffs were polite and accommodating. Lolita, my therapist was professional and attentive. Her correct and refined pressure, combined with smooth, hot stone helped ease my tense muscles perfectly. The whole experience was simply amazing! I would HIGHLY recommend this spa to anyone visiting Dhaka.

Very bad experience: 1) the room has a permanent noise that came from some lectrical plliace, every 1 minute you listen a very noisi "clack" imposible to sleep 2) the hotel cheat with the price: booking was done on the basis of the price in US dollars, when i wanted to pay, the reception converted the price to Taka and told me that i have to settle the bill in Taka, but they converted the price at a a rate of 131, . I asked to change US dol;lars to pay and they offer me 118 if I change for Taka, but they convert me at 130 in the invoice to pay!!!! oficial rate is 120, so as they converted to 131 they tried to charge about 10 % more After bitter and long dicussion they accepted to pai the bill in dolars at the price agreed in the booking, but it took me one hour of discussion. 3) food is bad and terrible expensibe in the restaurant, they take advantage that the hotel is a gated area and most of foreignenrs do not dare to go out, but the prices are several times more than in a good restaourant outside the hotel, for case they charged me 20 dollars for a quite bad chicken shawarma. My overall assesment is: nice facilities, awfull and dishonest service.;

The AC units were awful - had it set to max fan speed and 16C but it wouldn’t drop below about 22C because the units just weren’t good enough. same problem in both rooms. we were feeling uncomfortably hot.
secondly, the price when I booked was ÂŁ260 but I got charged ÂŁ270 when I checked my statement.
thirdly, the hotel stay includes complementary water. I had the breakfast and dinner package. at dinner, we were given water but to our surprise we were charged at the end for it. charging for water at a dinner buffet without explaining its not included is not right. if I’d been told I would have just brought the water from my hotel room. not cheap either - we got charged 600Tk for water which is absurd. water is included in the breakfast buffet. it’s all quite silly.
Additionally, we asked for tea bags at one point but nobody came so we were left waiting, hoping to have a final cup of tea before checking out. we didn't get the chance to do that in the end and had to buy a tea instead after leaving.
The hairdryer also didn't work. the furniture was chipped and old. one of the rooms only had one window and was dark during the day. the bathtubs in both rooms were filthy when we arrived and they weren't cleaned the next day either. it was disgusting. The lights in both rooms were flickering too and we had to leave them off.
This hotel is not worth the price. It's overpriced and I wouldn't even refer to it as a 5 star hotel - it's 4 stars at best. there are much better 5 star hotels around Dhaka for a lot cheaper.
Huge waste of money and disappointment.

My family and I had a delightful dinner at the Intercontinental Dhaka on the 18th of Nov. 2024, where the experience was marked by exceptional quality food, a refined and inviting ambiance, and outstanding hospitality. The dining room exuded a warm, elegant atmosphere that set the perfect tone for a memorable evening. The food was exquisite, with each dish prepared to perfection, showcasing fresh ingredients and bold flavors.
A special mention to Ms. Bithi of the front desk and Mr. Ismail, whose attentive service truly elevated our experience. They were courteous, prompt, and always ready to anticipate our needs, making us feel truly valued. Overall, it was a remarkable dining experience, and I look forward to returning. Highly recommended! Our experience was elevated knowing that the Intercontinental,Dhaka has a historical significance related to the Bangladesh war of independence.

This hotel is excellent. Staff members are friendly, helpful and professional. The room is large, comfortable and is in good condition. The bathroom is luxurious with a large shower and a large bathtub. Breakfast offers a massive choice with Bangladeshi, European and Chinese options. There's buffet lunch (4000 taka) and dinner (6500 taka). These prices first seem high for Bangladesh, but the choice is huge, the quality is good and the hygiene is perfect. All chefs, waiters and waitresses are very friendly and helpful.

The moment I am writing this post, I am still here at your hotel on December 25, 2021 (Room 0524).
For the past decade, I have remained a loyal member of IHG (ID: 196198864), and my family and I have stayed at IH around the world including yours, and whereas my stay in IH Dhaka tonight is the 4th occasion this year.
Throughout my history with IHG hotels, I am sad to say that my current stay is the most disappointing one ever, with just one single reason.
Your Duty Manager and your Chief Technician informed me today around 17:30 that the hotel’s facility cannot turn the water temperature up to more than “37.25” degrees Celsius, because the system has such temperature “fixed”. FYI, I went to talk to your staff because I actually did take a bath around 16:00, whereas the water temperature was far from being satisfactory.
For those whom are familiar with the custom of taking a hot shower and/or a hot bath, you know what a 37.25 Celsius or 99 Fahrenheit means, and YES to be simple, the water is far from being hot enough, especially when such temperature is measured at the tap. Imagine filling up a bathtub with 37.25 (@ tap) water. By the time the tab is full for bathing, the temperature surely is below your body temperature. Imagine being here during this chilly Bangladeshi winter.
As the most responsible person in charge of this hotel, I kindly request you to check if such temperature fixture is true or not, and if true, please do something about it. I am not asking for anything extraordinary nor illogical. I believe I am just requesting something within the boundary of “ordinary senses”.
It is beyond expressing “stressful” or “disappointing” talking and dealing with people who do not possess the common sense of what a “hot water” means, and to treat a guest asking for hot shower / hot bath like an alien from the outer space.
I know this is Bangladesh, and things are not as easy as other countries to maintain the hotel level equal to that of other IH hotels out there, and to be honest, I do love this hotel enough for other great factors like the cleanliness and the most upscale atmosphere offered in this country.
I do want to return here again for my family and my “weekend getaways”. However if I am not assured for an improvement on this one issue, I will never return here until receiving a further notice.
I respect the hotel and the staff here, but no respect for NOT PROVIDING A DECENT facility for guest to take a relaxing bath time.

I have been to this hotel so many times now. From the moment you enter this place just screams luxury. Greeted before you even enter the hotel. The reception staff are always so helpful and friendly. Just such a pleasant and luxurious start to the stay every single time.
The rooms are lovely, spacious. The bathrooms are just WOW! So beautifully designed and the products they have are so luxurious. Very expensive products in the UK. They literally thought of every last thing.
Everyone my dad stays he has to order room service - the Hilsha fish dish is his favourite. Exquisite taste. And the breakfasts always blow me away - so much choice and again the staff are so very hospitable. Makes the stay so much lovelier.
A big thank you to Mr Apu for always helping me find a room. Also a big thanks to all the women at the front desk. The staff are a credit to this beautiful hotel!

House with outrageous prices that are disproportionate to the ambience. We just want to go to dinner here. We were told that you could sit and dine in the pool area. So we drove to the pool, sat down at a table and then we were brought the card. Local beer cost about 12 euros, but is actually not drinkable and other beers 15 EUR, mind you 0.3. the pizzas between 25 and 30 euros and that with a slightly shabby ambience was then too expensive for us. So we left this hotel again without dining. The next day we were guests at Le Meridien, which is just as expensive but has a nice ambience in contrast to the interconti.
