I stayed at The Pavilion for five nights in March 2017. The hotel is in an excellent location, near to some of the main tourist sites. Despite being on a busy road, once you are inside the grounds of the hotel it is peaceful and a break from the noise outside. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. I had...

Excellent location, helpful front desk staff, 2 beautiful pools, lovely patio for meals and the free breakfast each morning was massive. They served tea or coffee, assorted bread and muffins, fresh fruit, pancakes or eggs & fresh passion fruit juice. Each morning we'd get up early, have brekky then get a tuk tuk out front for the day and head...

Every trip to Phnom Penh I look forward to spending another 4 nights at this hotel. It is like home, clean, safe, comfortable & quiet. The 2 pools are excellent, staff attentive, food delicious, free massage every visit is great! Home away from home! I look forward to my breakfast every morning! Time to book my next visit I reckon!

It is a nice hotel, three years ago it was a nice little hotel but now it got much more rooms and is much bigger. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The rooms are no more cheap but it is getting more expensive everywhere in the world. They offer a great breakfast. The aircon is very cold and could...

Dear Frank, Well, we do have 36 rooms now, with two pools and two poolside restaurants/bars, a mini fitness and a small spa. So it did evolve, but all the villas are just one-story and they are hidden in the vegetation. Our best rooms have each their own private pools for just over 100 USD, right in the middle of...

As usual we booked a room with a balcony and were given the large pleasant, though old fashioned, double room with the big balcony overlooking the front garden and swimming pool (there is also a pool at the back), and immediately above the reception. In spite of the comings and goings below the room is peaceful and with all the...

Dear Andy, thank you for your kind review and tips. I am a bit surprised about the ashtray bill as it is not our policy to charge guests when they inadvertently break something... Unless they smash the whole room! But thank God, that never happened :) I will check with the team what happened. Thanks for the info anyway! Cheers,...

You wonder at first when you stop outside where you are as the entrance is non descript and then you walk into the gardens and you're just blown away. What an absolute gem of a hotel - with only 36 rooms it's a great boutique hotel that was once the queens private getaway place. My room (number 36) was huge...

The hotel is an oasis in PP, lovely grounds, pools and lots of character but i feel we missed out as our room was very small with no room to swing a small bag never mind a cat (room 8). The kids had a much better room with more space and peaking into other rooms there were much better rooms....

Dear Expasal, Room 8 is 23sqm, not counting the bathroom and entrance. It also has a large terrace overlooking the Lush Pool. Indeed, there are some larger rooms, but this one is in the ancient building an has a particular charm. Thanks for the compliment on th team and breakfast! Cheers, Alexis

The perfect place to stay; close to centre but a really peaceful retreat. It's a genuine boutique hotel, so no Olympic size pools, revolving bars and restaurants with panoramic views but genuinely helpful staff without being intrusive, beautiful rooms, good food and well priced. Wouldn't consider staying anywhere else on a visit.

If you like to make the most of your sightseeing and enjoy lots of walking around the Phnom penh attractions, there is nothing better than coming back to the peace and tranquility of The Pavilion once you are done. Whilst it is just off busy Street 19, you may as well be out in the country given how little it...

Dear Jonathan, Many thanks for all these kind words! I am really glad you liked our little oasis. The wine is indeed very expensive in Vietnam, but thank God, it remains very reasonable in Phnom Penh. Hoping to seeing you soon again! Cheers, Alexis

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
It all started when we fell in love with a hidden gem of French-Khmer architecture from the 1920s near Wat Botum, one of the most venerable and original pagodas in Phnom Penh. Renovation and remodeling were led with due respect for the character of a building which had been, as we learnt it later on, a private retreat for Queen Consort Sisowath Kossamak, the late King Sihanouk's mother. Opened on August, 18, 2006 with 10 rooms, The Pavilion has slowly expanded over the years, offering now 36 accommodations throughout three more period buildings that have been added to the property: "The New House", former residence of the chief veterinarian at the Royal Palace; "The New Villa", formerly the private residence of a Cambodian senator, and "The Sun-Pool Villa", our latest addition which used to be lodgings for diplomats based in Phnom Penh. Each one has its own style and atmosphere, with distinctive architectural features such as an elaborate wooden stairway, intricate iron wrought railings, etc… ... more   less
