Newly arrived in Laos on our first real stop of the vacation, we wanted to quickly transform our job/school-oriented minds into "Laos, please don't rush" tunes. Rivertime with manager Barnaby readily facilitated this goal. We got a cabin with one room for us parents and the other room for the kids (11 and 19y). The beautiful cabins are made in...

If you find yourself in Vientiane and would like to get out a see the real Laos take a short trip to Rivertime. It's like being in a different world where you get to see the locals going about there daily lives. Great place to chill by the river and unwind or if you would like to see the sights...

Stayed 2 days (23-24 March 2010) at this beautiful place with my wife and daughter (Karen). We have nothing but a 3-thumbs up for the wonderful experience made possible by none other than our good friend Barnaby and his friendly staff especially Joy and Noi. The food is not 5-star, but definitely Rivertime's originals! The surrounding area, the atmosphere and...

A quiet, peaceful lodge by the river. The rooms are located in a small forest and there is constant birdsong. The staff are absolutely lovely and Barnaby, the new manager is great company. His gin and tonic is to die for. The floating restaurant serves excellent food and there is nowhere I would rather be than sitting there by the...

The resort is rustic and need of some work. The accommodation consists of wooden cottages with basic furniture and mosquito nets over the beds. It is quiet and the resort staff and new manager were friendly. They offer several excursions including river trips and visits to the nearby village, which gives you an insight into local life. The restaurant is...

We stayed here for just one night but wished we had more. As everyone has said this is a great location and very accessible from Vientiane. Sure there were some ups and downs with power and few bugs around but its a beautiful natural setting where you can experience a bit of local life and a much better appreciation of...

After reading Laos resorts websites and reviewing their activities available. My girlfriend and I decided to leave our friends and stay at the Ecolodge. And being completely honest, was the best place we stayed during our 1 month holiday in Indochina (out of 9 other hotels/resorts). The location is beautiful, right up against the Mekong river and tropical vegetation. The...

This is the last accommodation that we had before leaving from Vientiane back home, and we were pleasantly surprised. My nature loving gf loved the surroundings and the fact that the resort makes an effort to pay the staff well and support community projects. We were tired from all that travelling from LP and VV up north so it was...

Awww...my staff are lovely and friendly, they're just still a bit scared of foreign guests as are most Lao people. They're slowly getting used to us, especially now that I'm around all the time! Dust can be a problem but the whole of Laos is dusty in the dry season. Where we are there is very little dust compared to...

My boyfriend and I stayed at Rivertime in February for 3 nights. We REALLY enjoyed ourselves! The setting was exactly what we had in mind – quiet, welcoming, and relaxing. We had a lodge to ourselves and didn’t have any problems with the lodge, bugs, or anything like that. Our hotwater heater was a little tricky though. The floating restaurant...

I agree, outside rice planting season, guests don't get to actually plant rice with the locals which they can do if it is the right season. I have now added a lower out-of-season price. Sorry. I'm trying to encourage them to have a small paddy field at the research centre you visited so that all guests get to actually plant...

Stayed for 2 nights this week, and really enjoyed the peaceful location of the place. We stayed in lodge one on our second night (our first night was spent in a dorm, as our lodge had a problem with wasps, so we couldnt stay in it) however the dorm was fine for one night and was given to us 'on...

The thin foam mattress you mention is on top of a proper full-sized mattress. I added the thin foam part to try to make it more comfortable since one of our guests said the mattress itself felt a bit hard. I agree, the old management let things get a bit dilapidated but I've only been the new manager for two...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We are a riverside ecolodge resort only 30 km outside of Vientiane which offers a true taste of rural Lao life but with most of the comforts of home. We have a floating restaurant on the river and offer a range of activities such as local village tours, tubing, cooking classes, massage, a sauna nearby, boat trips, fishing, free bicycles etc. We do our best to live in harmony with both the local people and the surrounding forest. We also donate $2 per guest night to local education and community projects. ... more   less
