A very disappointing experience. In the room there was mold on the ceiling, in the bathroom ... The service was correct but nothing more. If we go back to Colombo, it is sure that we will not go to this establishment.
Thank you management for upgrading us to a beautiful historic royal suite. Nothing too hard for staff, always trying to do the best they can. Management has recognised the place need full renovation, which has already commenced. Location is very convenient. Food in the restaurant is very delicious.
Colonial venue with rich history in a beautiful setting. Quiet ambiance with outstanding meals. The staff were very welcoming and attentive. Overall a memorable experience. We will definitely be back.
I had a booking in June 2022 which I cancelled directly with the hotel in May 2022 during the free cancellation period. After the cancelled booking dates had passed in June 2022 the hotel took full payment for the booking and have refused to engage in communication to resolve this since. I have been frequently reaching out to the manager of the hotel, who initially replied to emails, but refused to return the payment because he had not received notice of the cancellation, despite this being confirmed directly with the hotel. Book here at your own risk but please be aware that they operate by taking payments without authorisation and quickly ignore all communication attempts, implying that you are at fault. Really disgusting practice and I would avoid at all costs at risk of being stolen from.…
Recently travelled to Sri Lanka to see family and spent 6 nights here. Obviously it is a very difficult time for the country , situated close to various embassies felt very safe here, the staff went out of their way to make sure you were comfortable , design is similar to luxury small boutique hotels. Also close to airport and good value relative to some of the other bigger hotels. Would stay there again.
The setting is out of this world. The history, the decor and the comfortable and welcome feeling was fabulous. We arrived for one night and had High Tea which was enjoyable. The service impeccable and the attentiveness of the staff were great. The courtyard and swimming pool as lovely. We had a bottom floor executive room. Clean, comfortable and welcoming. The staff couldn’t do enough for us. We eat dinner on the evening which was lovely and breakfast the next morning was fabulous. A special well done to the waiters and the room staff who were so attentive and helpful. This is a great place. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable.
There are many positive things to say about the Tintagel. It is located in a quiet but convenient location which is a short tuktuk ride to the center of town. The staff are incredibly friendly and the level of service is impeccable. The hotel’s restaurant has an excellent variety of menus items from which to choose, and everything we ate was really good. The wines are reasonably priced. We opted for a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast every morning. The building is beautiful. The premises are spotless. Where I do find fault with the Tintagel is routine maintenance. Wall paint is chipped in the public areas and the rooms. Window blinds didn’t function due to broken cords. Window shades didn’t function properly due to torn fabric. If it were not for these maintenance issues I would have given the hotel a five star rating. Simply put, this is a diamond in the rough that needs a little more attention.…
Stayed at Paradise Toad Tintagel as part of a one night stopover before touring Sri Lanka. This very appealing historic boutique hotel is in a posh neighborhood of town in a quiet side road. All staff were very friendly and welcoming. With only a handful of rooms (called suites), the service was very individual. Rooms are decorated in a black and white color scheme and wooden flooring. Being a historic building, we had some challenges to find power outlets to charge our devices. First world problems 😅. There’s a lap pool in the in the center of the building and a very limited gym area. Nice bar and restaurant. We enjoyed our breakfast on the terrace of the Tintagel with an a la carte selection of western and Sri Lankan dishes. Overall it was a different experience compared to staying at one of the major chain and much bigger five stars hotels in Colombo. Once in a lifetime experience. We were happy staying there, but would probably stay somewhere else when back in Colombo because the city offers so much variety when it comes to accommodations.…
We stayed here for our last two nights of our Sri Lanka holiday. A small but very well set up hotel. Our room was very large and comfortable. The location in central Colombo is good. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who arranged dinner bookings, tuk tuks and airport transfers. I would recommend having dinner in the hotel as well. An extensive menu, unobtrusive service and good food. We also ate in their sister cafe, a tuk tuk ride away, which I would also recommend. An excellent ending to our holiday.
A very nice hotel situated in the middle of a hustling Colombo City. Staff are very polite and tentative but slightly slow when it comes to ordering drinks or food. Though, while you wait, you can take in the ambiance of the place. Food of a good standard (Would definitely have the Roast roll of lamb) Breakfast very good. All in all a nice place for a stop over.
