From the second we walked into this hotel it sparkled. It is a beautiful hotel and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. I really do not like lifts and the staff were so good trying to accommodate me and open the stairs. I know I was a pain for this and they were wonderful.
The room was large and clean with a great bathroom and a cool blind that opened the bathroom up to the rest of the room if you wanted to. There was a small balcony where we had a sea view.
We dined in the main restaurant for breakfast and the choice was massive and we ate in the roof top restaurant in the evenings and food was great.
Now what is really special about this hotel is the roof top pool. I’ve never seen anything like it and it was heaven. The view of the sea was amazing and you can’t quite believe you’re on the top of a hotel. Everything you need regarding food, drinks, towels is available.
Some of the view are of the sky rise buildings Going up around Columbo but it’s easy to look away from those views out to the sea.
They also offer a free city tour which is worth it if you are short of time.
We would definitely recommend this hotel

The hotel exceeded all my expectations! I lived in the signature room (their signature room with balcony and ocean view), looks amazing! Aesthetics, beauty, sophistication + comfortable to work there in between holidays (for this there is everything necessary). When researching reviews of this hotel, everyone wrote that they mostly stay for 1-3 days before going south of the island, as Colombo is not the best beaches in terms of swimming. I decided, on the contrary, to go there for 10 days (rest in comfort) + get out to other places by taxi from the hotel. The beach opposite the hotel (with waiting tracks) is not for swimming, but beautiful (view from the balcony overlooks it and views at all breakfasts). At the same time, to bathe every hour hotel guests are taken to a clean, beautiful beach (free transfer from the hotel) and also every hour is picked up, very convenient. Except when I was, the waves were really strong, you can't really swim, it's better to go south. Ocean view pool, well, that's just something! Very beautiful on the property (there is even a garden). Service at the highest level! I stayed here for nine nights and never regretted it. In Colombo, there is not much to see in my opinion , but I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel's gift tour of the 5 main attractions of Colombo, more immersed in the culture of the island 🔥 Donated 4 kinds of tea from their own plantation, the food is amazing on the premises: restaurants, coffee shop, bar, club , everything is, even shopping center is in the hotel :) Also separately booked an all-day taxi from the hotel ($220) to go to the south of the island and see everything you wanted (fort Halle, old lighthouse, Hikadua beach, turtle farm...). Definitely worth it! Airport to hotel transfer booked from them in advance from the airport ($28) , met with a sign, all at the highest level. Recommend everyone to visit! It was a great experience! Stayed here for three nights on the Colombo and last leg of our three week tour. The location on the beach road offers excellent sea views if you pay extra for a premier sea view room. Otherwise you will get a somewhat uninspiring view of dilapidated buildings or building sites which unfortunately are on each side of the hotel. A huge apartment block or hotel is being built next door, cranes and noise all day long. The railway line runs right next to the hotel, on the beach, can be a bit noisy. But this hotel has an amazing rooftop, infinity pool and gardens that set it apart from other four star hotel choices. Between 6am and 8am the pool is pretty much empty, an absolute joy to swim in before the busy time. A highlight of my time in SL was swimming in this pool with just the crows for company. The birds drink from the pool so I suspect no chemicals are used, it did look clean though! There are jacuzzis and a bar on the roof also, so you can read a book under a tree with a nice cold cocktail, very unique environment. Premier rooms with balconies are comfortable and clean, to usual four star standards. The iron was leaking badly but otherwise no issues. Breakfast was excellent, great choice of self service buffet, in fact possibly the best I have ever had in any hotel in the world. The staff were smiley, polite and efficient in this restaurant, much praise to them. There are a number of other smaller restaurants and bars in the hotel, less busy and the staff are not as well trained, service can be slow and the information they provide often conflicts with that given elsewhere. They seem a little bit fed up or unhappy. For these reasons we chose to eat dinner elsewhere at another hotel where there was much better service and more engaging staff. In the lobby it seems that there are not enough staff, many taken up with the endless job of scanning luggage, in fact when we checked in our luggage never made it to the room, an hour later it was still sat in the lobby and had to be chased. Organising hotel taxis is a bit hit and miss, make sure you are really clear with your requirements and beware the aggressive non hotel tuk tuk drivers that loiter outside who will charge you more than double the fair price and get angry at you if you don’t pay it. Overall good rooms, fairly central location, great breakfast and amazing rooftop pool. Feels like it needs a bit more proactive management of the lobby services and other restaurants to bring it up to what might be expected elsewhere from a four star hotel.

During our recent holiday to Sri Lanka, we stayed in this fabulous hotel for 20 nights. This is the second time we stayed in this hotel and we were well treated by all staff at the hotel.
The reception staff, welcome staff at the entrance, security and the house keeping staff are very friendly and always there to help. They have a permanent smile on their faces and happy to have a conversation with you.
We stayed on the 5th floor of the hotel and we were given rooms with sea view. The infinity pool, steam room and the jacuzzi are clean and well kept and a great way to relax. If I have to make a suggestion for improvements, that would be to have hand rails and a glass enclosure in the disabled shower area as the wet floor can get very slippery(we requested a disabled person's room). But the house keeping staff were very efficient in making sure the shower room is kept clean and dry at all times and gave us extra floor mats.
I must mention front of house and security staff Lakshman, Alagalla, Ananda, Jayaweera, Rupasinghe, Lasantha and Jagath for making sure the safety of my elderly in-laws and Navin Harsha, Yasindu and Isuru, the house keeping staff on the 5th floor for taking care of our needs.
The hotel food is reasonably priced and there is a variety of fabulous tasty food available to meet all dietary requirements.
I would recommend this hotel for anyone.

Note: We went to Sri Lanka May 2022 at the heat of protest and fuel shortage – and despite US Consulate recommendation to avoid Sri Lanka, we did our own investigations and decided to go and felt safer in SL during protests then we did in the US, so you should not hesitate to go. We even viewed a couple protests which were orderly and very civil. Go to SL now as it is not crowded and they really rely on tourism so service will be even better.
The Marino Beach hotel truly represented a 1st class, well run hotel in a big city. Upon entering the grand lobby, there is a grand piano, chandeliers. The room was perfectly laid out, with very modern finishes that are both tasteful and functional (esp the large tub). We had a room with private patio facing the ocean, which we enjoyed each morning and night. The roof top infinity pool is amazing and the three hot tubs allowed us to relax after a long day, just before hitting the two steam rooms/saunas. The restaurant was very nice and offered lots of inside and covered outdoor seating overlooking the ocean, where we ate most of our meals. The service staff was outstanding and professional, esp. our matrede Nimalka who personally welcomed us for every meal and had our preferred table waiting. I watched Nimalka from across the restaurant and saw how he proactively acted with every guest, constantly checking on all patrons and make sure everyone had an outstanding dining experience. He even checked how our days went and gave us local background on some of the places and customs we experienced. He is a true professional and really made the restaurant stand out as service oriented. Our server every day Udara was also great and made sure we were always comfortable. The hotel location is perfect as we can enjoy views/sounds of beach (can’t really go on beach) but very close to downtown. It is also connected to a small Marino Mall which also has a great food court, which was inexpensive and tastey. We walked to the market, hospital (for covid tests) and had tuk tuks waiting at front and back. (pro tip – install Pickme app –similar to ubar) as you will get a honest estimate for trip on your phone and can avoid drivers who sometimes charge 2x unless you haggle. Also stay away from persons or tuk tuk drivers who offer a tour or cheap ride, as they will take you a jewelry store and leave you there – esp around the beach green area near old parliament building). WiFi was good all around at hotel and exchange rate was very fair. All staff wear face masks and front lobby has good security screening (devices/personnel)

The advantages of the Marino Beach hotel are summarized in three points by my accommodation experience.
1. Room reservations and changes informed me quickly and accurately ( Namely, it handles you of room change requests quickly and reasonably.

Our recent stay at Marino Beach Hotel in Colombo was a delightful experience overall. This hotel boasts several standout features that made our visit memorable.
First and foremost, the arcade in the hotel's mall is a fantastic attraction. With tickets priced at approximately USD 1 each, it offers affordable fun for both kids and adults. The variety of games and activities ensures that there's something for everyone, and the friendly pricing makes it easy to enjoy without worrying about breaking the bank.
Dining at Marino Beach Hotel was a highlight of our stay. The Chinese restaurant serves exceptional food, with every dish reflecting high-quality ingredients and meticulous preparation. Similarly, the room service was top-notch, delivering delicious meals promptly and with a smile. The culinary experiences, both at the restaurant and via room service, were consistently excellent in terms of both taste and service.
However, there were a couple of areas where the hotel could improve. The pillows provided in the rooms were too soft, offering little to no support, which affected the quality of our sleep.
