My daughter and I stayed at this hotel 4 nights in late May 2011. The hotel is in an authentic Istanbul neighborhood at the edge of Sultanahmet. It is a short walk to both the Blue Mosque and the Grand Bazaar (<10 minutes) albeit it is all uphill. Within a 3 min. walk there is an excellent hammam, local bakeries...

Have stayed in this lovely hotel in a charming, historical, protected and older area of Sultanahmet, 3 times in the last year. Very clean rooms. A lovely breakfast with either sea or old Istanbul city views. Very helpful and friendly staff. Very comfortable beds and spacious rooms. We will certainly return to this Hotel in the future. Also i have...

Location is rather central: 10 min to Blue Mosque. Rooms facing the back are very quiet (sleeping w/open window). Satellite/cable TV with channels in all languages. Good bathroom: decent water pressure + hot water. Towels were changed everyday. Terrace is a beautiful place for sunset: front faces the sea and the back faces Blue Mosque & Hagia Sophia. Staff was...

My wife and I returned to Istanbul for a final night after 3 week of travel. We chose this hotel as it was the "sister hotel" to Maramara, which got good reviews, but they were booked. This hotel is NOT RECCOMENDED for the following reasons: 1. its location- not at all in the heart of the tourist district, you have...

this hotel is not easy to find, especially when on foot. The week prior we had stayed at a lovely hotel near the Blue Mosque, they were booked for our return night, so at the advice of trip advisor we booked this one. We had tried to get its sister hotel, Maramara, but it was also booked. When walking from...

"Normally we respect all kinds of reviews and do not write answers. This is the first time (we hope it will be last time). Room : Our room with the sea view has triple glass to block out/reduce noise and it's air-conditioned. However, for people who are very sensitive to noise and want to sleep in the afternoon this may...

Saruhan Hotel has lovely spacious, clean and comfortable rooms...and bathrooms. It's a little away from the main action, but still within easy walking distance of all attractions and restaurants etc. The rooftop terrace is great for breakfast and the food is very good too. Staff are very friendly and go out of their way to help.

The service is great. Receptionists speak fluent English and are extremely friendly and helpful (booking taxis, restaurants ecc.. anything you can't do if you don't speak Turkish). The price is very good considering the hotel location (10 minutes walking from the tram station Sultanahmet) and considering that it includes a buffet breakfast. You need to leave the towels on the...

We enjoyed this hotel a lot. Very good breakfast: several kinds of cheese and jams. Excellent location and friendly English-speaking staff. Rooms were clean and not too small. We had a balcony in our room and a good view to a football area (my husband is a football fan). The hotel is quite and we will stay there again.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
