If you pay peanuts... this place is in a good location for the Blue Mosque etc and is a good price for people saving their money for the bazaar and the kebaps. But do not expect it to be a) clean, or b) warm (we were though in April).

The staff were friendly, the hostel was central, the bed was comfortable, the breakfast was adequate. On the downside, the place was certainly a bit run down and maybe not the cleanest, but for the price I thought it was great and I would definitely stay there again.

A nice little hostel but it's tucked away in a not-so-great looking alley. really near the blue mosque and aya sofia but really far away from bars and nightlife which is over in beyoglu. Ive been to istanbul before and stayed near taksim square which was so much better i would not recommend staying in the sultanahmet as restaurants are...

If you are not expecting gorgeous rooms or lavish bathrooms, it is a very good choice. Though the rooms can be small and not luxurious, the hot water works, the rooms are cleaned every day. You get no television, but for the price, you don't expect it. I found the staff very friendly and useful to all the guests. They...

I stayed in this place for 3 nights and I would probably not return, unless my financial status really forced me to. There are two good things with this place: the location and the price. It is close to most major historical sites and it does not cost very much at all. But it is very clear that you get...

this place is in a good location with a short walk to blue mosque and bazar. the room was only half clean when we turned up but there was only one girl cleaning and she was too busy, but she came back later in the afternoon to finish it off. the bathroom stunk really bad and so did the room....

We travelled turkey for 15 days, stayed in 6 different budget hostels and Istanbul Paris Hostel & Hotel is the only hostel I would not return to. I would recommend it to real budget travellers who are only planning on spending very minimal time in the room. The staff were quite helpful and the location was extremely central. The breakfast...

Very central to all tourist attractions. From airport caught bus into city, walked a short distance and caught tram. Most locals speak some english which made things easy. Amazing service by the staff at the hostel, kept making and offering us cups of tea (free). Breakfast included. Free internet. Smallish room but great views out over the sea. Would certainly...

I stayed at Istanbul Paris Hostel december '08 / january'09 and I can recommend this hostel to all, who are looking for cheap base and spend most of the time visiting the city, because the location is just perfect. The staff is very helpful, the rooms are good for this price. Big plus is free tea and staff.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
