We were in Istanbul for a few days in Early March of 2010, after having some bad luck with the first hotel, we stumbled on this wonderful hotel by chance. The Hotel is fairly new, very clean with very helpful staff. The price was very affordable with an excellent breakfast to start off the day. Thanks Alaadin for making our...

After reading numerous reviews about many hotels in Istanbul (I was hoping to find a clean, well managed, centrally located, reasonably priced hotel with friendly staff) I read the many rave reviews of the Alladdin Hotel and decided to book myself and a friend there for three nights. We were not disappointed. The rooms were clean, the staff was welcoming,...

The Alaaddin Hotel was our base while we travelled to Tunisia, central Turkey (Cappadocia, Ephesus, Pamukkale) and Budapest, Hungary. We chose the Alaaddin because it offered luggage storage and laundry services. It's location, a block north of the Sultanahmet tram stop, is excellent. We were warmly greeted with some çay (Turkish tea) when we arrived from Toronto on April 2,...

Nice hotel, great location a couple of blocks from Sultanamet and the tram. Easy access to the airport (one tram connection to Metro at Zehtinburnu - takes about 1 hour). Easy 10-15 minute walk to the ferry docks (or take the tram) for Kabatas. Go to a news kiosk and get an "akbil" with about 500 TL on it. Follow...

I stayed in the hotel Alaaddin with three firends just as the problems with the Icelandic volcano started. The young men at the reception were geat, they went out of their way to help us, they called all over the place for us, excellent service. The young man on night duty made coffee and sandwiches for us at 3.30 am....

Can't be lieve that this is a top ten B&B. We had, at best, a single-person room for two people, without any space and reading lights did not work. This colors our review because to be fair, the staff is very friendly, the location is good (once you do locate it), the breakfast nice, and the price reasonable. With so...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
