We spent 2 nights at the Sultansaray Hotel, which we found due to an accident (see Hanedan Hotel Review). We got a discount price for the 2 rooms (double- and triple bed) including parking lot and breakfast. We had some trouble with parking (Some hotel staff members wanted us afterwards to pay) and with breakfast (having breakfast at 8:30 is...

I stayed in Istanbul with my husband for four nights and were really lucky to have chosen Sultan saray for our stay. We booked through a travel agency in Istanbul that confirmed our reservation at Sultan Saray, but when we arrived - after paying 50 dollars for airport pick up as the travel agent had charged us- there was no...

Sutan Saray is in a great location, walking distance to all of the brilliant historical sights in Sultanahmet and the Grand Bazaar as well as the tram stops. We stayed for 4 nights and arranged hotel pick up from Sabiha Gokcen Airport at 2am for the very reasonable price of 60 Euros with the hotel taxi. The B&B consists of...

I travelled around Turkey with my boyfriend for a month and really after roughing it, we were looking to stay somewhere nice, romantic but reasonably priced. In total we stayed in three different hotels in Istanbul, this being the one we stayed in for our last three days. We read many reviews of hotels but we came across this one...

I recently spent a week in Istanbul and wished I'd discovered the Sultan Saray earlier in my stay there. The Sultan Saray is a stylish little boutique hotel just off the Divan Yolu in a very pleasant part of Sultanahmet. Each individually designed room has a retro Ottoman feel with carpets, sofas and drapes, giving it a very exclusive and...

My friend and I spent an amazing 5 days in Instanbul and our stay at the Sultan Saray was a true highlight. Planning initially to stay only 2 nights in the city, we couldn't bring ourselves to leave, and when discussing with our first hotel to extend our stay, found that they were fully booked. The management of the first...

A great young staff. In a city where everyone is trying to sell you somthing, it was so refreshing to always come back an oasis where all the staff genuinely wanted to assist us in making our stay memorable. Sultan Saray has come under new management and was gutted and renovated, only three unique rooms quite lavishly decorated. Superb location,...

We were in Instanbul for a weekend-trip. The small hotel sultan saray is like a homestay. They have a very good restaurant and three new and lovely decorated rooms in an ancient but fresh renovated house in Sultanahmed. Baha and his men are very helpful and friendly. It´s a quit and nice place in the middle of Istanbul and a...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
