I loved this place. I stayed in 2 other places in Istanbul before I came here, both of which cost a LOT more. For value you can't beat this one. The location is excellent, it is clean, has everything you need in the room and the owner really couldn't do enough for me - so helpful and kind. If you...

Location could not be better: really close to the main historical area and public transportation and yet on a very quiet spot, so you can sleep peacefully. Owners most kind and always ready to help in whatever you might need. Pros: large shared showers, abundant hot water. Flasks of nice scent spread in corridors. Good wi-fi connection in the room....

Athough clean and tidy, this hotel could most appropriately be described as 'faded' but its location was fantastic and was an absolute doddle to reach by metro from the airport. At around 45 mins, possibly even quicker than a taxi. Perfectly situated to explore all parts of the city and easy to orientate yourself, what with the old walls to...

Locaton is pretty much perfect for the main sights. Also very quite location (compared to much of city). Close to tram. Staff really super-friendly and helpful. For €20 a night i thought it a great deal. Cannot fault it. As one would expect for this money it is simple. However room was big (have experienced half this size in big...

Great little place. Basic rooms, shared bathroom and showers, friendly and helpful staff, centrally located in old town on a pretty, quiet street. No air conditioning but fans seemed fine when I was there. Easy to reach by metro and tram, about 45 mins frm Ataturk. Thumbs up if you're looking for a no-frills, uncomplicated place to sleep.

Basic hostel with small and clean rooms. No breakfast is served, but there are a lot of options in the neighbourhood. The owner is friendly. Nice value for money hostel in the touristic area of Istanbul. The location is really great, just near the Topkapi palace. The Aya Sofya and Blue Mosque are also close, like the Bazaars and the...

Location could not be better. It's not a 5 star (or even 3 star) hotel, it's actually a hostel, but it's excellent value for money. I paid for a double room, so was actually paying for 2 people despite travelling on my own. Despite this it was much less than half of what else was available in central Istanbul that...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
