In the heart of Istanbul's tourist area, Ares is very close to some main Istanbul sights. Unfortunately, that was all that this hotel had going for it. Crumby room, smelly bathroom, no screens on the windows so I got lots of mosquito bites at night. Would not return.

Ares Hotel is located at an ideal location just near to Aya Sophia, Blue Mosque, Tokapi and other ancient sites. Stay is very comfortable duly supported by an equally professional staff, not to only make my stay comfortable in the hotel but were also very helpful in arranging our trips to different locations. They are really very professional

Good and less good. The staff was charming, helpful and nice. The location was great... at least for a traveller with company that visit Istanbul for the first time. The breakfast, which we see as quite important, was not very good (bread, butter, egg, sausage, cheese, tomatoes and cucumber..orange juice, tea and coffe..some sweets). Perhaps not fair to compare with the...

The bathroom smelled like sewage for all of my 5 nights. I even changed rooms with no improvement. I keep reading good reviews about this hotel and all I can think of is that I was placed on the 2nd floor and this probably is the worst for this problem. The staff completely acknowledged the issue but told me it...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
