We stayed at the Empress Theodora hotel in 2 segments. I got there early morning before check-in time and left my luggage at the hotel. The hotel is very close to Topkapi Palace, Basilica Cistern, Aya Sofia, Blue mosque etc. All are within a 5-10min walk away. Also, it is right by the tram line, which was helpful. Breakfast -...

We stayed a full week at this hotel and were pleased with it. We had seen its lobby prior to our stay as we were in Istanbul for a few days in September and were a bit put off by the non impressive lobby. However, when back in October we were pleased with the room we were given; spacious enough,...

Fatih from Bonita tour travel agency booked this hotel for us. The location of the hotel is central so you are a walking distance from the major attractions. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Their roof terrace is a great way to start the day for your breakfast where you...

This is a kind of hotel you need just to sleep, coming back to the room late at night and waking up early morning to do more sightseeing. Rooms feature en suite bathroom, satellite TVs, are very clean, not really spacious. There is a breakfast server right on the roof, offering a limited variety of options. The location is unbeatable...

This hotel was ideal for me. I took the metro from the airport and apart from one line change, arrived on the doorstep (practically) of this hotel. Having stayed at the Ilkay and Orient Express hotel on the same street very close by before, I knew this hotel was in the middle of the old city, my favorite place to...

Not a bad hotel...centrally located and close to the trolly line. Positives: -Good breakfast -Free internet, which was usually up -Within walking distance (1/4 -1 mile) to many tourist attractions. Friendy, helpful staff.. Negatives: Beds are HARD as a rock. EVERYBODY smokes. Shower is TIGHT. If you weigh over 220 pounds, stay somewhere else. You will NEVER fit.

Great location for seeing all the main sights, although on quite a busy road. Rooms are a good size and are nicer than the photos look. Breakfast was good quality and served on a lovely roof terrace.

this is a place to park your belongs and sleep, and then spend the rest of your time out and about, taking in the amazing historical sites (with nothing more than 5-10 minutes walk away) with endless tourist restaurants and shops at your doorstep

For a first visit to Istanbul, this hotel is tops as it's steps away from the Haiga Sophia, Blue Mosque, Cisterns, and other historical landmarks. The room was clean and a nice size with windows that opened and AC! The shower was a bit small, but that was a minor point. The staff was always pleasant and helpful with our...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
