Top location - close to the Galata tower, walking distance to the Bosporus, around the corner from (also alternative) bars and restaurants in the back streets. The staff was super friendly, gave us tips of where to head to at night and the chef presented us proudly with his home-made fig jam :) Breakfast was good, if you crave a...

If you are visiting Istanbul in October make sure that you take some warm clothes for the cold evenings. During the day the city has bright blue sky's teaming with warm sunshine but this soon changes come 6pm when night falls. Alas Galata Life has made very few allowances for autumnal nights. Rooms are provided with extra blankets at request...

Galata Life is perfectly located in Istanbul and the value for money on that location is good but do not expect too much. The room I stayed in was small although the one opposite was bigger. Also the bathroom is really small and the room was not very clean. However, for that money you have a perfect place to sleep...

Galata Life is in the perfect location to check out tourist attractions like the Galata Tower and Taksim Square, but is also great to just walk around and shop or go out at night. Since it's located over a small cafe/restaurant it has a great breakfast and has a lot of room to just hang around in the afternoon. The...

The hotel is located in a beautiful and busy neighborhood, nearby Galata Tower and very close to shops and restaurants. I strongly recommend staying around this area regardless. Room and bathroom were super clean, though no cleaning service appeared throughout our 3-day stay. They might have assumed we should have asked for room to be cleaned, but there was no...

I've stayed in a few different places in Istanbul and in terms of overall rating, GalataLife is the best one. It's location is great. So close to the tourist places, shopping areas, metro, and bus stations. The rooms are spacious, there's a roof terrace and a dining area looking onto the street. The staff are so friendly and helpful. I...

When my family came to visit me, we stayed at this hotel for four nights. We loved it! The breakfast is delicious (nutella, eggs, tomatoes, jam, toast and more- yum!), the rooms are spacious, the people working in the cafe downstairs are helpful and friendly and the location cannot be beat! The hotel did not have an elevator, so the...

We had a wonderful two night stay at Galata Life. The location was convenient and colourful and the staff speak excellent English. Our room was spacious and clean. The terrace had a nice view. Breakfast was good and served whenever you wake up. Amazing coffee! A great way to end our one month tour of Turkey. We would definitely stay...

Galata Life is a small, family ran business which offers visitors - in my opinion - the best opportunity to experience the "real" Istanbul, with it's bustling narrow streets, vibrant music scene and wonderful street food. I've been to bigger, fancier hotels in my previous visits to this beloved city (my mother's hometown...), but never felt so close to being...

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighbourhood Profile
Beyoglu
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
