I was only at the Galata Life for about 7 hours on my last night in Istanbul, but it was in a good location for getting in late at night and crashing. Close to nightlife means there are people around and places to eat even late at night - definitely not isolated area. Staff was very helpful: carrying our bags...

We stayed in the double room. It was small but we like the simplicity of the room. After a long and tiring day from all the wanderings around the city, the beds were really comfortable to relax and have a good rest. If you have time it is really nice to spend some time in the restaurant area from where...

We loved the location of the hotel a stone's throw from Galata tower but were disappointed with the quality of the hotel and the service. We shared a room for four which was spacious but very basic and dirtier with every day we stayed even after a complaint. The excuse: The caretaker didn't show up - and the staff present...

The twin bed room was tiny! it should be a single room. the bathroom was a joke. it was about 0.8m x 1.5m. when you open the door, it would hit the sink - the sink which was already the tiniest thing you've ever seen. the shower was above the toilet bowl. so when you shower, everything gets wet, including...

Galata life is situated conveniently in a grat and booming quarter of Istanbul - close to lots of bars and restaurants and just a few stops from the touristic areas. The rooms are spacious but very simply furnished. Breakfast is enough to start the day but could be more generous. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the atmosphere in...

We absolutely loved this place! Stayed 3 nights with 2 girls. ROOMS: small but convenient and new, good beds! Only possible downside is small bathroom... STAFF; cannot say but wonderful. very helpful, speak good english and very flexible. e.g. breakfast when you wake up, so no hurry after a night out. LOCATION is suberb! In the middle of the new...

I used to travel in big cities in small and family-run hotels or pensions, but this time and for once I was totally disappointed with the quality of this small hotel that is trendy, well located but generally very "raw". No cleaning for 4 days-stay, loud music after midnight and before 8 AM regardless of my remarks, very basic breakfast,...

We spent 6 days in Istanbul - staying at Galata Life. The hotel was recomended to us by a friend who didn't sleep there but went there to eat several times during her trip in april. She told us how new the place was, how good the food was and specially how friendly the owners are. And we are really...

After a conference in Assos, Turkey, I had one night to spend in Istanbul. Some Turkish friends at the conference suggest I stay near the Galata Tower rather than (as most tourists do) the Sultanahmet area. Boy, was that a great suggestion. The Beyoglu area consist of narrow streets on a hill filled with interesting shops. Istiklal Street in the...

In May I visited for the first time Istanbul. It was an unforgettable visit! What made it unforgettable was of course the city, but also my stay in Galata Life. A few words to describe this hotel/restaurant: very nice & helpful young staff (multilingual!), excellent food & drinks (don’t miss their home made lemonade and cookies!), very nice rooms for...

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighbourhood Profile
Beyoglu
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
