Cheers hostel is an ideal backpackers spot in Istanbul. Is is step away from Sultanahmet and Hagi Sophia mosque. It is a very cool vintage building with well organised space. they know how to run this business and that's why they have much more guests than other accommodations in Istanbul. And it's end of season now. It's very clean, warm in the bedroom, nice roof top with amazing view of Aya Sofia and great staff. The Golden Retriever Zaman is probably the cutest dog in Istanbul. He is so friendly... More

I've stayed at Cheers with a friend in October and I cannot recommend it enough. It's such a great hostel, located very centrally, minutes away from Basilica Cistern and Hagia Sofia. I stayed in a private twin room with a bathroom however their dorm rooms looked very spacious and clean too. It offers a great selection for breakfast and has... More

The hostel is beautiful with wonderful views of the Hagia Sofia from both the entrance and the rooftop bar. The staff were exceptional. A friend and I arrived at four in the morning on the Saturday with a room booked for the Saturday night. We had intended to see it through with an all-nighter before checking in but they offered... Wicked place to stay, brilliant location, all the staff are friendly and helpful. Rooftop bar was brilliant, had loads of games of darts with the staff, and they helped us out when we needed taxis sorting as well. Will definitely be staying here again when coming back to Istanbul

Staying here was the perfect end to our Turkey trip! My friends and I were upgraded to a room just up the road from the main hostel and were so happy. The staff were so helpful and recommended a boat trip of the city which was so great. Great location, great staff and great facilities. Would definitely go back :)

Stayed here back in 2012, and I never got a chance to review! This was one of the better hostels I've stayed at. The staff super friendly! Great location, very easy to get to public transportation! Wonderful views! Can't beat it!

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
