This is a small hotel in walking distance to all the big sights in the Sultan Ahmet area. It only takes 5 min to walk to The Blue Mosque, where there is a tremendous amount of noise from traffic and people, and yet the area of this place is absolutely peaceful, except during prayer time, as there is small mosque...

We stayed there for two nights, and we were 6 women in total, occupying two rooms. We made sure to ask if we could have late check out since our flights where late in the evening, and they assured us that it is possible. On our last morning, and after I asked again (I had asked already again in the...

My family stayed here (2 young children) for three nights when we first arrived in Istanbul. It was an excellent introduction to Turkey, and it's lovely people, with very pleasant staff. The family room was not huge, but it was large enough and we appreciated amenities like a kettle (for tea/coffee), fridge (to keep cold water) and a safe in...

We stayed here for 7 nights in May 2014. The hotel had been refurbished recently so everything was new and modern. The decor was very tasteful and we had all amenities that we required, eg Kettle and Iron. The hotel itself was in a fantastic location, a 5-10 minute walk from the Blue Mosque but on a quiet side road...

This was a great hotel, recently remodeled row house. Our family (2 parents, 2 teenage daughters) stayed here for 3 nights to cap off a 2 week tour of Turkey. The hotel looked brand new, everything was spotless. It was very near the main historical sites of the Sultanhamet area with a small grocery store and an excellent restaurant a...

We stayed here two nights before venturing on. Couldn't be ina better location although somewhat difficult for taxi driver to find.. EVERYTHING within easy walking distance. Exceptionally friendly and accomodating staff. Great breakfast. Much more than we expected for the price. No elevator, but staff willingly carries bags up and down spiral staircase.

This hotel is in a fantastic location if you want to be close to the main sights. The price is great - far cheaper than other similarly located hotels in Istanbul. A couple of issues - we were given a smaller than booked room when we first arrived (room 1) it was also close to the stairway and the reception...

I can't believe how lucky I was to find this hotel. I am a college student, and travelled with 3 other students my age. We shared a room, and found the prices here comparable to any hostel in the city, plus we had a private bathroom! There is nothing glamorous about the hotel, but it is perfect for those traveling...

I travelled to Istanbul in a group of four students. The Siesta Hotel was absolutely perfect for us; location within walking distance of the major sights, clean and basic, and a bargain! We spent about as much as we would have at a hostel, but had the benefit of a private room and bathroom. The family that runs the hotel...

The hotel is in a favorable location near Sultanahmed Mosque. There's a railway line next to the building, but this does not cause much noise (not at night at least). Rooms are clean and spacious, but a bit basic. We were staying on the 3rd floor where water pressure is very low and it's quite hard to wash off all...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
