We staying in the double room with ensuite it was more like a boutique hotel than a hostel. Newly renovated, very modern and classy. We enjoyed our stay and will happily recommend to others. good value for money. Good location.

Next time we stay in Istanbul we will definitely book our room at Portus house again. We enjoyed two double rooms ensuite with private bathroom. The rooms were clean and inviting and offered everything we expected. The staff was very friendly and most helpful, even offering a breakfast at 4.30 a.m. the last night of our stay as our plane...

My husband and I stayed in Portus during our visit to Istanbul. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast was included, and served in a nice kitchen area with the rest of the guests. Breakfast consisted of slices of cucumbers, tomatoes, cheese, bread, jam, an egg. There was also cereal available, and of course tea and coffee. It was...

This is a basic but clean establishment; very comfortable with willing and friendly staff that always sought to please. I can only recommend this property, as at the price it offers what it states. It is also very well situated for tourists such as myself..

It was my first time in Istanbul and a friend recommended that I book around this area. Booked it through Agoda and got the last room (Room 0, supposedly for four) at a really good rate. I was traveling alone and found a gem! The location is perfect: minutes away from the tram, the Galata bridge, and just down the...

The Portus House was the perfect place for our short trip to Istanbul. The rooms were very comfortable, lovely furnished and very clean. Breakfast was turkish style and super delicious. The area around the hotel is dominated by many bars and cafés, but this won't disturb you during the night. You can easily experience Istanbul by foot or take the...

I doubt that we would have booked to stay here if we had known that our room was up four flights of stairs with no elevator. And we hit Istanbul during a cold spell, and the room - though not particularly cold - lacked independent heating and never got really warm. But hotels are pricey in Istanbul and you have...

I stayed here for one night between flights. The directions to the hotel from their website worked perfectly, and there is easy access to the T1 tram and Galata Bridge. The neighborhood is great, and still a quick tram ride or 25 minute walk to the major tourist sites. I had a room with shared bathroom. The bathroom was only...

Staying in Karakoy

Neighbourhood Profile
Karakoy
Sitting pretty with an age-old air about it, Karakoy is situated on the European side of the Bosphorus at the mouth of the Golden Horn. Perhaps the city’s most historically significant area, it’s currently one of the most happening parts of town as well. Here street vendors and alfresco fish restaurants line the banks of the Horn where the views of major attractions across the water rival Karakoy’s own key attractions, such as the iconic 14th century Galata Tower and the Museum of Modern Art. A major hub for local and international waterborne traffic, Istanbul’s commercial and maritime heritage remains as relevant and evident as ever in Karakoy. Commuter ferries mingle with luxury cruise liners at its busy port, ensuring a continuously cosmopolitan flow of people..
