Stayed at the Amethyst Hotel over the May bank holiday weekend and we had a brilliant time. The hotel itself is in an excellent location very close to the Grand Bazzar and only 15/20 minutes walk to the old town. It's also just beside a tram station so if you don't fancy the walk it only takes 5 minutes on...

Do not stay here. Had my camera stolen out of my room and the manager did nothing, and neither did the Police. I was there with Gate 1 Guided Tour of Turkey Days Oct. 2011

Can walk to Sultan Ahmet Square and Grand Bazaar, but plan for at least a 20-30 minute jaunt. Room small but tidy, modern and clean. A GREAT baklava place just a couple of blocks away - who knew baklava came in 20 different varieties. Terrific breakfast. Be sure to secure valuables. Very nice looking spa in basement. Lots of good...

We were moved to the Amethyst Hotel by Virgin Vacations at the last minute...with no option from Virgin to cancel the trip (even after purchasing their 'for any reason' trip insurance!). Uggh. Our original hotel was located in the very convenient and desireable Sultanhamet area of Istanbul, and they let us know just a few days prior to our departure...

It was the first of many hotels through out our stay around Turkey and it was an auspicious beginning for a wonderful visit. As we entered the hotel, we were impressed by the tastefully decorated lobby. Our room was compact but clean, well equipped and modern. We could actually sleep well on our first night in Istanbul after a long...

Having stayed in a supposed 4 start in Turkey before, and having to book this hotel last minute, I wasn't expecting much. How pleasantly wrong I was. The Amethyst is a really comfortable, well equipped hotel just 10 minutes walk from the Grand Bazaar, and maybe a further 15 mins to the Blue Mosque and other main sites in Sultanahmed. A...

Were a family of four (two adults and two children), and we were given a beautiful family room, which it exceeded our expectations. The room was of very high standard, very clean, and very quite. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful, especially the manager Mehmet. We would defiantly stay there again and would recommend it to everyone else.

We stayed at Amethyst for 4 nights while on holiday. We arrived at midnight only to be told that our booking not confirmed and that we should find another hotel! Not a great start! The hotel reservation staff did not inform us that the rooms are not available until we arrived at their doorstep! However, the manager and all other...
