My boyfriend and I spent four nights at this hostel during our stay in Istanbul, and we loved it! It is colorful and cozy, and it's name is certainly fitting-- the lobby was always occupied by some of the friendliest, lovey kitties, not to mention the incredibly friendly staff! Every time you come or go somewhere, they will ask you...

As others have mentioned, the stuff were excellent! They're helpful, relaxed, friendly and cool. We stayed in the upstairs double room which was clean and good. Artwork was funky all throughout, and chilling out downstairs with the cats was great atmosphere after a day of sightseeing. The location means that you can easily walk down to the tram and head...

Stayed here for 5 nights and had a great time, it's a cosy little hostel with, like the name suggests, quite a lot of cats around (though mostly they have their own area downstairs!) - wicked communal area and very friendly staff who were full of recommendations and happy to socialise. Rooms, showers, breakfast. WIFI etc all fine as well...

The Stray Cat is definitely one of the best hostels around. The staff are incredibly friendly, the place is clean, the rooms are nice and the location right by a tram stop makes it easy to explore the city. A good alternative to some of the lower quality hostels in Sultanahmet and a great price.

My boyfriend and I recently stayed at the Stray Cat Hostel, and I was very impressed with this hostel. I have stayed at many different hostels throughout my travels, and this one is one of my favourites. The rooms are sparse, but comfortable. The artwork is very interesting, the kittens in the hostel are adorable. I thought it was clean...

Had a great time at Stray Cat. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, giving us tips and even ordered me food online (it has the best Iranian receptionist ever :) The room was spacious and clean, and so was the bathroom. It is very well located on a quiet street but with shops and small restaurants, close to the tram...

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighbourhood Profile
Beyoglu
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.

“Rooms are generally the same in quality and are adequately clean. However, choose a room with windows facing the street since it allows a lot more light during the day.”

“The Wifi was going in and out and you haven't to switch different routers (and that's all people could talk about in the common room). Go for an inside room, the street is LOUD even on the 3rd floor couldn't sleep with the windows open because of it.”
