The Minel Hotel is a modern and comfortable hotel in the middle of the historic part of the city, within walking distance of Aya Sofia, Blue Mosque or Grand Bazaar. The room and the bathroom are quite small but clean and nicely decorated. Breakfasts are very big and tasty. The staff is very nice and helpful.

Hotel location is perfect; few minutes away from all sight-seeings. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Breakfast is awsame; especially "Gozlama :)". Staff is always there for us, they are helping us to plan our day, they would advise about locations that we did not know. Always welcoming to help with big smiles. It was a honeymooners trip and we...

Four of us stayed at Minel hotel in February 2012 and were surprised by its simplicity, and warmth of the young people who run it. The rooms are small, but nicely arranged and clean. We stayed there in winter time and the rooms were warm (we had to open the window a few times because it was too warm). The...

I would strongly recommend this hotel for anyone who is going to Istanbul. The location is perfect: just a few minutes away from all main historical places, few meters from a tram station and perhaps 10-15 minutes away from the harbour. The staff is very very friendly, welcoming and willing to help you to figure out how to get around...

We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel, thanks to very friendly staff, nice and modern rooms and an amazing breakfast. The atmosphere was very homely and despite the cold wather it was warm in the room. Every time we came back we were greeted warmly and offered a "coffe or tea", which was very nice. There is no doubt...

During my short visit as a tourist in Istanbul, my friend and I stayed at the Minel Hotel situated in the historical Sultanahmet neighborhood of Istanbul. The staff were all super helpful and friendly, and did not mind answering all our questions on how to get around the city. More importantly, the hotel had a warm and cozy feel, and...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
