Me and my girlfriend visited Istanbul for 4 days. We stayed in the Chora guesthouse. The rooms where okay, small but clean and decent (very small bathrooms) but since you are in the very centre of touristy Istanbul for this price you probably cant get a big room. 1 thing which we really disliked about this place was the owner....

Quiet hotel, excellent location - only 5-10 minutes walking distance from the attractions and the old city. The street is quiet even if one street higher, there are a lot of restaurants and shops. The room was perfectly cleaned daily, which overpassed my expectations for a budget hotel. If you have a lot of luggage, it might be hard for...

Hi everyone, This guest house is certainly budget friendly, and a few minutes walking distance from the historic places. Owner looks a little harsh, but quite helpful. We got #303 with amazing sea view from the terrace. Wi-Fi works well. Only issue is with the streep steps and small size of bathrooms, otherwise it's perfect for a budget stay($39per day)...

Frankly we booked with a view to save some coppers, that aim was achieved though, even the owner upgraded us to a 3 person room for free, many thanks. Was clean place and that's about all. I realized and would definitely recommend to add up a bit more $ and get a comfortable room in some other good place in...

Very poor service, despite the fact that the location is good. I advise not to select this even it is cheap. Reasons why, I will state below:- The rooms are very small and not the worth payed price. You have to do the settlement in advance for your complete stay (which is ridiculous and leaves with no option to change...

We loved our double room as with the extra single bed it was roomier than other guest houses/pensions. Small bathroom but enclosed shower and great instant hot water system. Rooms cleaned daily, everything neat and clean. Owner easy to deal with. Breakfast standard Turkish fare but good. Underneath guesthouse is handy takeaway with beers available! Overall we recommend, particularly our...

Upon arriving at this guesthouse, my boyfriend and I were charmed: it was quiet, cute rooms, great breakfast room and a great deal for the price. Had we had no issues and no need to communicate with the staff or manager, we would have had a lovely stay. However, the first night we tried to shower, our hot water did...

Stayed in the single bed room and to put it simply, it was like staying in a store room with only space for a single bed and nothing else. Bathroom is across the passage and very small. Price & location wise I think this room was good with a kicker AC but with no space to keep/.open your luggage. Claustrophobics...

I reserved the single room via the HostelWorld website which claimed the bathroom is ensuite. Turned out the bathroom is situated across the public hallway from the room, which was standing space only. This is fine for someone on a budget but prefers not to stay in a hostel. And this traveller probably should be tiny as well. The hot...

We cancelled and decided to stay at the same hotel for the 3 extra nights after our tour. We had to pay more, but at least we felt more secure. The only thing going for this place was that it was cheaper, not really a bargain though at $69. There was strong odor from the bathroom, the room was small,...

    Staying in Sultanahmet

    Neighbourhood Profile
    Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
