The hotel / hostel is in my opinion an excellent budget choice. It is close to the harbour and the old town with all hte historical monuments. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was basic but comfortable with a private bathroom. BTW, earplugs might come in handy as people were using the toilet at night and it was...

After a cancelled flight, I needed a place to stay and arrived in Istanbul at 8am. They let me in the room right away with no extra charge and the manager was extremely understanding. The room I stayed in was basic and clean enough - certainly not the Four Seasons - but for the availability and price who could complain....

My daughter (8) and I have just returned from our second stay at Yeni Hotel. Shukru who manages it, is so friendly and kind. Several rooms have been totally updated with new bathrooms, furniture, lighting and décor. We had wonderful sleep there. The hotel is in the perfect location for exploring Istanbul. This place is located right where you need it to be. So close to key transportation hub to take you wherever you need to go. Plus is right in between and within walking distance to all the historical sights in Istanbul. The staff is friendly and helpful and rooms neat. What else does a traveler need?!

Even though the name means "New Hostel", it's actually an old building. The staff is helpful and the room and attached bathroom was clean and comfortable, if sparsely furnished. There doesn't seem to be breakfast facilities, although use of a communal kitchen is possible. The location is good - close to tram stops and a train station, and within walking...

Looks more like a homeless people shelter, then a hostel. Very very not cosy. I'm not a demanding person at all, and stayed at cheap hostels a lot. This is the worst one. My room was at the 5th floor, no elevator, next to my room there was a room with 5 washing machines that produced sound, and the personnel...

Yeni Hostel is located in Sultanahmet - you can walk to the Hagia Sofia,Blue Mosque and Grand Bazaar in 10minutes or so, or take the tram - it's a couple of stops away. The tram station was 2-3 minutes from the hostel and it took around half an hour to get to Taksim Square. There are plenty of eateries and...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.

“If you're looking for peace and quiet, go for the last floor. As there's no elevator, the top floor isn't as busy. Ask for a room that isn't next to the shower or toilet to avoid being disturbed by toilet visits.”
