This is one of the most charming hotels you can find in a big city! Hidden away, on a small and quiet "fairy tail street" but still in the very center of the Istanbul old town, you will find this lovely little hotel, run by Ismael and his wife Tulay. We spent five days in their hotel and we appreciated...

Ismail and Tulay, the proprietors of Oba were the perfect hosts at their cozy hotel just a five minute walk from Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque in the historic Sultanahmet neighborhood. It was like staying with the family you always wanted. Engaging in conversations about Turkish culture over glasses of wine, showing you best places to go and shop,...

Our stay at OBA was comfortable. It is a neat, tidy place at a good location. The owners and the lady at the reception were very helpful with regard to providing us suggestions and guidance for traveling around the city. The only downside was poor WiFi reception in the annexed building, and below average room cleaning services during our stay....

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
