The very friendly and welcoming Ozan (Ozy) at the Concierge Desk helped set us up with a tour of the new town with a great tour guide named Ali. This tour included many additional sites such as Panorama 1453, Pierre Loti Cafe, Eyup Sultan Mosque (exterior) and neighborhood, Istiklal Street, Galata Tower, and Dolmabahce Palace.
We had King Suite with Hagia Sophia View #403 and Presidential Suite #303, both of which had SPECTACULAR views of the Hagia Sophia. The King Suite has gorgeous wood paneling and royal purple accents, as well as a table with two chairs and a hot tub which look at the Hagia Sophia. It also has a narrow balcony. The Presidential Suite has both a king bed and a sleeper sofa, and has a wider balcony. The two college-aged members of our party were in this room and they made great use of that balcony to enjoy that view in the beautiful late May weather!
Were there any downsides to this hotel? There could be a little more in the way of shelving. (There is ample closet space to hang up clothes, but that doesn't work for things like socks.) The pillows were a little high for my personal taste, but everyone's preferences are different.
First rate hotel overall!

The staff is willing to help, and management can get engaged quickly. After a wrong charge, their manager contacted us (we had already relocated to another hotel) to offer a refund for the wrong charges. However, this only happened after multiple social media posts.
The hotel is located in a wonderful spot of the city, within walking distance of main historical places. Their rooftop offers a great view, but can get crowded easily (however as hotel guest they will accommodate you quicker) and prices are rather high.
Sleep is not good. You will be awaken at 5-5:30 am with a call to prayer from multiple Mosques, and activity in the rooftop makes it incredibly difficult for elevators to be available. Be ready to use the stairs.
Bell services are superb. They will accommodate your requests and be ready to offer good service.
Rooms have clearly being upgraded, but there are cables floating everywhere, unfinished corners and furniture placed in interesting places.
This hotel is a 2.5-3 star for services and room quality, with a 4.5 for location and accessibility to historical places. I give them a 3.5 for management communication. If traveling with a family, you will appreciate their willingness to accommodate.
If you are willing to invest some more on your stay, go to one of the big chains with standardized service quality and true VIP services. I wish I had. It would’ve saved me lots of headaches.

My bags were in the room when I arrived. Although I had booked a queen bed, I had a KING!! My room was quit during the might with the exception of the Call to Prayer in the early hours! And this I love to hear.
Breakfast in the hotel was included and being only one level down from the rooftop, the view was spectacular. Breakfast was HUGH and way too much. Great selection of Turkish foods and eggs three ways!. We learned early to ask for only our favorite dishes which were brought with much cheer!
As long as I am on the restaurant guests of the hotel are guaranteed a seat for dinner. And the Manager is wonderful!! It is a seafood place that gets very busy. We also had lamb and it was great too.
Location, location, location. It is close (walkable) to all of the major sights and the light rail. Istanbul's oldest district, the hill the hotel is on was the location of the old palace. Two blocks from the lobby the remains of the palace mosaics, unearthed in place, are in the museum built to house them. We ate at a local restaurant blocks from the hotel and after dinner we were shown the old palace rooms through their back door!! And an outside bazar is just blocks away as well.
I cannot say enough about the staff!! Ozan checked me in so fast I didn't know what happened. He is knowledgeable and arranged anything from a personal guide (the best one we ever had!) to dinner locations and a lunch cruise with hotel pick-up and drop off! And of course scheduling our final airport transfer!
Elain was warm and bright every day time I saw her! She was very helpful recommending the best ways to get places and that special restaurant with access to the Palace rooms! And one cannot forget Jasemin! Each time there was a line for the elevator with restaurant goers not staying in the hotel, we were give priority to go to our rooms in the hotel. A very nice thing when coming home from a long day out!!
I cannot say enough about the location, views and staff from the first person that greats you when you walk in the door, to the restaurant staff - top to bottom- room cleaning to the treatment you get when leaving.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. For example, happy to lend us a power adapter.
They will try and sell you a Bosporus cruise or an excursion, but are not pushy.
The room we had was quaint and comfortable rather than luxurious. Of the photos on this site, our room was one of the ones with wooden furniture. Some photos appear to be of the Seven Hills Palace hotel, not this one , Seven Hills Special Category.
We had a balcony, which was nice. The bathroom was good. The bed was comfortable and the air-conditioning effective.
You will be woken early by a call to prayer anywhere in the area. It's part of the experience.
The included breakfast was spectacular. The double decker rooftop restaurant has an amazing view of the nearby mosques and wonderful sea views across the Golden Horn and the Bosporus. The traditional breakfast had about 20 dishes brought to the table, with a variety of cheeses, eggs, breads, vegetables, fruit, and jams.
We also enjoyed dinner there, again with great views.
If you want an ideal location, friendly staff and a hotel that feels Turkish and not a bland chain, would 100% recommend. We would stay there again.
However, this famous view comes at a price - there are a LOT of visitors to the hotel to visit the restaurant which means that in the evening the foyer and lists get clogged up by non hotel customers. This means the lists just are not available! Didn't affect us as we had a room on the first floor so just walked up the stairs.
The room was spacious and decor was very Turkish - though a bit tired and was noisy during the day as we were just above the street. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning.
Overall, hotel is OK - bit dated but great location and good for what we wanted. Its also handy for the restaurants which are literally on its doorstep.
For me, the highlight was the staff. Very helpful and friendly, helping out with any issues, arranging taxis and in one case, paying for a taxi when our taxi wouldn't accept applepay! Thanks to the staff!
Overall, a great hotel and staff with great views and location - just a little dated.

"The hotel’s rooftop restaurant is really touristy because of the spectacular views but the food is excellent."Read full review
"Book on line or on your phone for skip the line tickets for the major attractions. Just say "no" firmly to the rug and tour touts and walk on and most won't hassle you. "Read full review
