Our stay at the Hotel Dersaadet in Istanbul was delightful. The rooms were pleasant and the roof top dining room for breakfast was enchanting. The staff was very helpful, giving us good directions to use the public transportation system, even supplying us with transportation tokens to get started. The hotel is located in a great spot to see the Blue...

When you read the reviews you think the place is smashing. It's not. It's a standard room, with a shower, a toilet, and a bed. I think more like a holiday inn/hilton level of quality. I think the starts people give it are just not commensurate with the type of hotel. It's a 3 star at best. The food in...

We stayed for 3 nights in June and then 1 night in July. The location is great, walk to all major sights in Sultanahmet (e.g. Blue Mosque, Haghia Sofia, Hippodrome...) or you can just want up the street to catch the tram if you feel a little bit tired of walking. The building is very well maintained, kept the old...

We stayed here for 4 nights, and couldn't fault the hotel. The location is great - 5 mins walk from the Blue Mosque and Sultanhamet area, yet on a side street which means the hotel itself is in a quiet area (although there is a mosque which will issue calls to prayer quite nearby). The service was excellent, and the...

The hotel is well located for seeing the major sights of the Sultanahmet section of Istanbul (Blue Mosque, Aya Sofya, Cistern, Topkapi, Archeological Museum, etc.) on foot. The best restaurant choices are not in that district, but easy enough to get to by cab. We had a "sea view" room, which offered a slice of the water over the roof-tops...

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It has a delightful terrace with views of the Blue Mosque and the sea on which a good breakfast is served, as well as refreshments in the evening. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel to a friend.

My friend and I recently returned from a very enjoyable week in Istanbul, not only because it's a fantastic city but also because we stayed at the Hotel Dersaadet. We had read the favourable comments on TripAdvisor and in several travel guides and we were not disappointed. The location, view from the breakfast terrace and the friendliness and helpfulness of...

My sister and I stayed 6 days at Dersaadet Hotel in Istanbul and we have a great time there. The hotel provides a free transfer from the airport to people that stay at the hotel for more the 3 nights. The hotel is a good surprise, the room is spacious, very clean, with a bathroom tipe turkish bath, with robes...

A small hotel in an excellent location, a few minutes walk away from the Hippodrome, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and Topkapi. Sitting on the roof terrace for breakfast, snacks and drinks you have fantastic views over rooftops to the sea, with ships heading for the Bosphorus and occasionally dolphins playing in the bay. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful,...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
