We stayed at the Taksim Gonen hotel for 3 nights in October while touring Turkey with Riviera Travel. This is a traditional hotel in the centre of the Beyoglu area of Istanbul which is on the European side of the city. We stayed in Room 1107 on the first floor which was a bit small but comfortable. It had twin...

We enjoyed this hotel which is in a convenient part of Istanbul, if there is a convenient part in such a vast city! The staff were friendly and helpful. It's a compact hotel for the amount of people that stay there and the breakfast room gets very crowded as it isn't big. If you hit a really busy time it...

We spent 3 nights here a couple of weeks ago on a VJV tour and overall we were very pleased with their choice of hotel. Our room was very big, the "double" bed, really two large singles pushed together, was huge plus there was a single bed which was handy for our cases as there were no racks to put...

This is my second visit to Istanbul in a span of one month. Fortunately this time the hotel was far better than the first one , although, there is not much difference in the rates. The Taksim Gonen hotel, is located only 150 meters from the heart of Istanbul,( the Taksim square), and it enjoys a commanding location very close...

I visited Turkey in February 2015. This hotel has a poor rating as the walls are very thin and you can hear your next door talking. Poor breakfast service as the food is the same everyday and not much different choices. I would definitely not going back

We spent 3 nights in this hotel and were not disappointed. The room was more than adequate and the beds very comfortable. The restaurant was on the top floor which afforded a marvellous view of Istanbul and the choice of food was good without being outstanding. The only problem was when the lifts stopped working, but they tended to get...

As part of our cruise package we had 2 days in Istanbul staying at a 5 star hotel. We wanted to visit Gallipoli so needed to extend our stay. An extension at the 5 star was prohibitively expensive. After searching on Trip Advisor we found the Taksim Gonen at less than half the price. Whilst the views from the rooms...

the location of hotel was perfect, near the Taksim square and metro station, near the istiklal street and in a cozy corner. the breakfast was really good, delicious and varied. the staffs were polite and helpful and rooms were clean and quite. I just sow a little problem about crowded elevators at the mornings and loss of stairs for going...

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighbourhood Profile
Beyoglu
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
