Our first night in Istanbul, we booked for a triple room with private bathroom but upon arrival, we were checked into a mixed four dormitory room with shared bathroom. Hostel owner didn't compensate, and we had to pay for the triple room. Bathroom condition is terrible. Broken shower head in one of the bathrooms, only cold water at the sink....

Hostel on a great location in Istanbul. The staff is very friendly! Bathrooms/toilets are not very clean and it is really noisy. Great place to stay for a few nights and if you want to be in the city a lot. We stayed for 10 nights and that was a bit too long.

I stayed in June, after spending 10 days or so at another hostel. Firstly, the staff is one of the best I've ever seen anywhere. Ali is one of two people in the city to do the Pub Crawl (at the time). He is amazingly helpful and SO dedicated, there all the time, can't ask for a cooler, wiser, friendlier...

- Poor breakfast: white bread, butter, an egg, a small bit of cheese and jam, plus tea or coffee (Nescafé, powder milk). You get more tea/coffee if you ask. There's a small, cheap shop nearby where you can buy more stuff. - Airport to hostel: public transport (closes 24:00) or taxi (65 lira at airport, 25-40 lira if you ask...

Very nice people running this place and they provide fantastic service. Very reasonable, competitive pricing and it is very close to everything you will want to see. Unfortunately missed the pub crawl as my flight was delayed, but heard great things about that as well.

Ali is great: friendly and extremely helpful in anything Istanbul, be it hamams or the tram. The Pub Crawl is a must (Ali takes you around himself and there's a discount when part of the hostel compared with the normal price). I stayed with a friend in the double private room which was very comfortable. Breakfast included which is always...

I have stayed there in Mavi Guesthouse several times. I like that place! It has good service, reasonable price and friendly staff. I have stayed in dormitory room where are beds for 24 people. It was absolutely OK to sleep! There is an excellent view from the rooftop terrace to an international landmark - Ayasofya.

Only side note: only ventilators and no air conditioning. Nightlife district far...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
