Stayed here with my friend for four nights in February. The location is a stone's throw away from the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. It's also possible to walk to the Old Bazaar - about 10min walk up the hill. The hotel itself boasts 3 floors of rooms. We were the only guests during our stay (we went in February...

It is a 1 minute walk to the entrance of Topkapi Palace, the hotel is located front to Haghia Sofia downhills. HaghiaSofia and Blue Mosque are 5 minutes away. It takes +- 10 minutes...

This is definitely a hotel I can recommend. Hotel staff is friendly, competent, quick, polite. I especially enjoyed the family atmosphere. Location of the hotel is central in Sultan Ahmet. Only a few meters to Topkapi palace, blue mosque, Hagia Sophia and a nice area with many pubs, restaurants. Impressive that the hotel is still very peaceful and silent in...

Hotel staff is happy, friendly and efficient - a credit to the management team. This is one of the best Sultanahmet hotel I have ever stayed in Istanbul. The hotel is located almost the backyard of Hagia Sophia, and have a great terrace view of both Old City and Bosphorus. Rooms are clean, comfy and very quiet. We would have...

After searching widely for hotels in the Sultanahmet area of Istanbul we happened to find the Valide Sultan Konagi right in the shadows of the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. This small boutique hotel represents the best of Turkish hospitality from the greeting at the desk to the magnificent breakfast buffet provided on the roof terrace. It was clean...

After battling through the road works and traffic jams, our first impression of the hotel was it's peaceful location (n.b.during the day up until late afternoon, this area is used by taxis and minibuses for drop-offs). Faisal, the concierge, came out to meet us and immediately offered tea (the first of many over the course of our stay) on the...

I was given a choice of rooms, so I chose the view of the Bosphorus and the Sea of Marmara. The alternate view was that of the Haghia Sofia. This is a small family run hotel only a very short walk to the Haghia Sophia and the Topkapi Palace. Spotlessly clean with great views from the rooftop restaurant where you...

I had a wonderful 8 nights in Istanbul at Hotel Valide Sultan Konagi. It was my first visit to Istanbul, and the staff made me feel right at home. Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
