This hotel used to be fab but the owners have changed since I last stayed and it's now run like a village pension. The room was great- very comfortable and spacious. The corridors are shabby, stained carpet, fire extinguishers hold doors open on each floor. The staff are abrupt, unsophisticated and ignorant of international hotel standards/guest relations. The night desk...

The only thing villa-like about this hotel is in its name. While the location in hip Chianghir, ten minutes walk from Taksim Square is ideal, the hotel is mediocre in every way. The breakfast was awful (limp vegetables, eggs that seem to sit around for hours, and bitter coffee), and the service was gruff and even rude. Most surprisingly, the...

I would not stay at this hotel. Prior to booking, we read the reviews on tripadvisor - though they definitely warned us of getting 'ripped off', we knew that we loved the neighborhood (Beyoglu) and this was the only hotel we could find there. But the previous reviewers were right, this hotel 100% is running some sort of scam. Their...

Not the first time in Istanbul, that means that I can compare: Hotel Villa Zurich was the optimal decision to stay in. Central located as in the district Cihangir: Taksim, Istiklal cad., Istanbul Modern, Port Kabatas, etc. in 10 minutes walk. Inspite of the day and night buisy surrunding the rooms were quiet. Even the single room is large enough...

Small and nice hotel close to Taksim area. Location is very good, because 5 minutes walking to taksim, without the caos from Taksim. On the other side service is not the best: we had some problem with room lighting, but we wait for one before mainteinance. In addition breakfast is quite limited to salty food (cheese, salad,...), no sweet foods....

The location of the hotel is great, but the rest is a headache. They tried to cheat with the payment, tried to double charge us. The staff is badly trained and does not speak sufficient English. I can only want everyone to surrender credit card data to this hotel. They are not trustworthy!

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighbourhood Profile
Beyoglu
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
