Busy old part of Istanbul. Easy walk down to the Golden Horn looking across to the Galata tower or walk the other way for shopping, Topkapi palace and the Blue Misque. Hotel itself is basic, clean and friendly.

Unlike most reviews, our experience was very good. Murat was very helpful on informing us about the surrounding attractions and making sure everything was up to our satisfaction. Parking on the street is a nightmare, hotel staff allowed us to park in their enclosed garage. I'd highly recommend this place to travellers seeking a budget option in a more authentic,... More

We stayed with a group of 14 during a Sufi spiritual pilgrimage. The staff was kind, helpful. The room was clean, small. Breakfast was nothing great (no fresh fruit). Though not in Sultanahmet, the location was quite convenient. We enjoyed the more traditional, non-touristy atmosphere of the neighborhood. Economical.

The location of the hotel is okay. Right beside the Fatih Mosque. About 5 - 10 mins walk to access to public transportation. The staff thereof was nice. By the time I lived therein (10/12 - 10/14), the road construction was undergoing, so the walking condition was not good. The breakfast was average. The airport pickup service was convenient (40TL),... More

The Fatih Resadiye hotel is located near the beautiful Fatih Mosque and the Valens Aqueduct. Our room was fairly large and well equipped. Unfortunately, the air conditioning did not work, so it was very hot. It also smelled of cigarette smoke even though we had booked Non smoking.

I think the the rooms rates of the Fatih Resadive hotel are not reasonable. The room was musty and smelled of smoke, also the room was very warm. The size of the room was ok, but the breakfast did not fulfill a European standard. All in all for the things offered significantly overpriced.

Cheap and Friendly Hotel. It has a good location near to Fatih Cami. It has a historical building. For example, there is an antique mirror at the entrance. Rooms are tiny, and there is no luxury. Breakfast is satisfactory. Beds are clean, but not the bathroom. It is a safe hotel for a family. If you look for a one... More

My students and I as well as several other American groups in Turkey stayed in June 07. Lovely hotel and breakfast. We did have 1 dinner outside on the patio and it was very nice. We enjoyed a small seating area for the students to convene around. We were treated quite nicely considering we were student groups. I would recommend... More

The Resadiye is often the cheapest discount option in Istanbul on hotel search engines. There's a reason for this. The location is not bad, being in a parkish neighborhood near the picturesque Fatih mosque, and a short cab ride from the Old City. However, the rooms are tiny and poorly equipped, they have little temperature control, and they're subject to... More

Staying in Fener & Balat

Neighbourhood Profile
Fener & Balat
This sleepy and rather socially conservative area of Istanbul hosts a small but thriving Jewish community, the patriarchate of the Eastern Orthodox Church, and some of the most beautiful churches and Christian art in the world. Much of what’s most interesting to witness in Fener and Balat sits between the surviving ancient city walls of Constantinople and the serene shores of the Golden Horn. Despite the many splendid sights, historic attractions, stunning vistas, and warm Turkish welcome, the area remains largely unperturbed by the tourist trade that characterizes the atmosphere in nearby Sultanahmet and around the Grand Bazaar. Travelers that like to explore off the beaten track will reap big rewards for making the effort to visit this low-key part of town.
