After 7 years we returned at the Tashkonak with our two children (14 and 15 years old). Once again it was a very nice stay. The staff of this familly runned hotel is very helpfull and the location is very good: a mostly quiet street 5 minutes walk from the Blue Mosque and Aya Sofia. Breakfast is served at the...

My family and I visited Istanbul for the first time a couple weeks ago. I picked Hotel Tashkonak because of it's location to the old city sites. It was a great choice in location. But even better than that was the service. It is a family run hotel and everyone is so helpful with great recommendations for restaurants and site...

Thank you Hotel Tashkonak - we had a fabulous time! From the moment we arrived, we were taken care of. Our flight was early and were not sure if the hotel would let us check in early. But they were wonderful - our room was ready and we were escorted to it right away. A great relief when you are...

It's got nice character with garden and rooftop terrace and the staff were really friendly with all the help. However the room was small and old that made me question about value for money. It's fairly close to Blue Mosque but it's not so easy to find and I got lost number of times. Average breakfast.

Thank you for taking the time to write a comment about your stay with us. However, I was surprised at the low score that you awarded our hotel and feel I should respond to your criticisms. All Sultanahmet hotels have the highest rates in Istanbul. The reason for this is the popularity of the area, the high season and the...

My wife and I arrived in Tashkonak on 15th July. Our stay was until 20th July 2011. We're very impressed by the accommodation. Initially, we booked for a standard double room and when we reached there, the receptionist told us that it will be cheaper if we pay by cash rather than using a credit card. So we paid in...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
