A nice little hotel with everything one can ask for. Location is superb, only a short walking distance to all the major sites in Sultanahmet. What makes this hotel tick is the friendly, helpful staff and the beautiful sea view from the roof terrace. The breakfasts I had on our 4-night stay were remarkable - good selection, filling, healthy, delicious...

I traveled with one friend. We are both older women and had absolutely no trouble anywhere in Turkey. We stayed 2 nights at Tashkonak. Breakfast on the roof overlooking the Bosporus and the Marmara will not be forgotten. The hotel garden also is lovely. The hotel is very clean, the staff are very helpful. Hayati at the front desk was...

Friendly, helpful staff (that speak English), amazing breakfast with an amazing view. Room was small, but very clean, and good sized bathroom, that was very clean as well. We had a small terrace off our room. There is a computer and internet available, that was really appreciated when doing further travel research and contacting family. There is also a printer...

We had a fantastic three night stay at the Hotel Tashkonak. The hotel was clean, well located in the Sultanahment and really good value. We were really impressed by the friendly team - especially the guy on reception for whom nothing was too much trouble and who gave us lots of good advice on what to do and see and...

Excellent hotel with great location. Little difficult to explain to cab driver to find, but mapquest print out helped a lot. Breakfast was very good and offered more than most hotels in Europe. Staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome from our late arrival (0100) to the dinner show they set up for us. We could not...

Close to everything, helpful English-speaking staff, nice restaurant with a view, and small but nice rooms. One of the better values in Istanbul and probably one of the best places in Sultanahmet for under $100/night.

We were picked up by the Hotel shuttle and transported directly to the Hotel where we were met by very friendly and helpful staff. The whole feeling in the hotel was very welcoming. I felt that we had stepped back in time a little especially with the decor but was pleasantly surprised that everything worked very well and we slept...

A perfect place to stay, we couldn't have asked for more. Our stay in Istanbul was short and we wanted somewhere small, welcoming, near restaurants, easy to walk to and from, with views of the sea and main sites. The Tashkonak had it all. all the staff were kind, endlessly patient, helpful in booking tours for us or suggesting ways...

I stayed in TashKonak with my mother for 4 nights during our first visit to Istanbul. The staff: very friendly, excellent English, extremely helpful in offering visits and advice on what to do in a non-intrusive way, ready with a smile. The rooms: As you'd expect for a 3-star, comfortable firm beds, good pillows, very clean with daily maid and...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
