We had booked this two months in advance. We were in for a shock. We reached here on 16th Dec.in the afternoon. We had booked four rooms. We were in for a shock, the rooms were in a terrible condition, broken furnitures dumped in a unlocked loft in the room.,in one of the room's bathroom, the WC was dirty.. How sickening,we insisted on...

as you soon as u enter the room devoid of any openings except the main door..what do you expect. the rooms are disgusting...no ventilation, it is almost claustrophobic. The toilet was dirty with fresh potty stains that was not flushed by the earlier guest. The towels had holes, stained bed sheets ...enough to put anybody off. Though the hotel had...

The check-in process was easy and well taken care of..that was the end too. We had 4 rooms and we were allotted rooms in 4 different areas. We made the booking 6 weeks ago..so it had to be together. Anyways..we said ok. Now the rooms..the worst you have ever stayed. . The rooms are in tatters...old, haggard and dirty. The...

The hotel is nice, room also clean the owner Mahmud is really helping. The location is near then Artakoy mosque, really life area. But dont come in this hotel in winter time like me, because they are close the restourant, so you have to walk into Portakal area to get food but not to far only 10mins walk.

Thieves in the room - and nobody cares!!!!! Be careful in this hotel - a lot of money was stolen out of my room. I was complaining on site, by phone, by email....no one even contacted me!!! Twice I was able to speak to someone, they promised, that they would take care. However, they didn't even came back to me...

I have visited Istanbul many times, however this trip was unique. Staying in Ortakoy was a whole another experience , especially being with the locals felt so good and more Turkish taste mingling with them everyday. We had good stay although the room was in the ground floor under-ground , but decoration was very sweet and feels ottomans style indeed....

First, getting to the location took really a long time with a taxi, on side streets, late at night/early morning. It is really out of the way. Then, when I arrived, I thought the taxi driver was lost, this could not be it. But alas, yes, that was it. The reception (really..?!) was a room under ground, basically under the...

Staying in Besiktas

Neighbourhood Profile
Besiktas
In Besiktas, skyscrapers compete with palaces for space in an upscale vista replete with hilly green parkland filling in the margins. Step into this rather wealthy neighbourhood and discover a rich mix of opportunities to shop, dine, and be entertained. For folks in search of urban buzz, not to mention a constant reminder of just how important Istanbul’s waterways are to its rich history, there's the frenetic Besiktas ferry terminal or the city’s most vibrant fish market to explore. For a timeout of metropolitan proportions, head to the bucolic Yildiz Park or the chic Bosphorus-side fishing village of Ortakoy. Attractions such as the grandiose Dolmabahce Palace and a bevy of other stately residences await admiration. To be sure, this large and not overly touristy swath of Istanbul yields plenty of pleasure for all.
