We stayed in the Legend Hotel in Istanbul during our recent visit to Turkey. It is situated in the Sultanahmet area, very central and near to the Blue mosque and Aya Sofia. It is also near the Grand Bazaar, and within walking distance from the Cemberlitas Metro station. They offer a very decent khavalte (breakfast) on their terrace, from where...

I am a faculty with the University of Colorado and I've been conducting a study abroad program each year since 200. Finding a reasonable hotel on the historic peninsula of Istanbul for a group of 15 or so has been a challenge till I've found Legend. With different groups I stayed there for a week in May in 2005, and...

We stayed at the Legend Hotel for a total of 6 days. The Staff is amazingly attentive, professional, and efficient. Hakan was especially helpful and and kind. By the time we left, he felt like a friend to us. The room was clean and tastefully decorated and we had a fantastic view of the Marmara sea. The hotel's proximity to...

I just stayed in this hotel in December and this hotel certainly is a big NO. Was able to have only one hour of sleep. if hygene is important to you, you will be so disappointed with this hotel. The bathroom was not cleaned properly, there was a heavy smell in the room. The bed was not comfortable at all....

The picture of the exterior has been airbrushed. Only a small doorway is visible from outside giving it a seedy appearance, and making it difficult to find even for local Taxi drivers!! Location is excellent, but thats all. No hot water for 4 days. Shower tray blocked so overflows all over floor. Handed in our key, reception lost it !!...

for location you cannot fault it... the shower was a squeeze and cheap bendy plastic which leaked over the whole bathroom but the rest of the room was fine - we did not have a view but we went out for that. the reception area was promising was sweetly grand - it is a narrow ottoman building- the thing that...

good hotel but a few problems. Great view from top of the balcony. Nice back garden and really good location in the old town. The rooms aren't special but they're nothing bad to go by. I had to change my room the 1st night cos there wasn't a city view in a king size room. It was more like a...

Stayed for 3 nights in Aug 05. Great midrange hotel, very typical 3 star but has SO much charm! Rooms are comfortable, we stayed in one with a balcony (no extra) overlooking the Bosphorus...absolutely gorgeous. Decor is a little dated but who cares! The rooftop bar is amazing...overlooking Blue Mosque and the sea, serving up drinks 24/7. Unbeatable location, walk...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
