I was really happy with Istanbul Hostel. I stayed 6 nights in the 21 bed dorm room. It was actually really good for such a big room- quiet and didn't feel crowded. They even had ensuite toilets and showers which was unexpected but awesome. Really chill vibes here. There's a cool chill out area a floor below their restaurant where...

The location of this hostel is really good. Literally meters from the Hagia Sofia and blue mosque. The staff are friendly, if not a little pushy for their tours (they run a travel agent out of the hostel also). The rooftop terrace is nice, a bit expensive... But you get a great view of the ocean at breakfast time or...

Istanbul Hostel is located in a great spot, and the free breakfast is a great way to start the day for folks looking to save money. The staff was around whenever I needed help with something, such as purchasing water. I stayed in the 9 person room and met some great people staying there. The only down side were the...

The hostel has perfect location to explore the historical parts of Istanbul. We stayed there for two nights in 6 bed female dorm. It was ok, but nothing special. The best part of our stay was the breakfast at the rooftop restaurant. After two nights here, we moved to the other part of Istanbul - Beyogul which is less turisty.

Rooftop views tend to be required in Sutanahmet . This hostel is very centrally located and has a great rooftop restaurant where breakfast is served . Rooms tend to be hot and airless in summer given that there is no air conditioning. The manager is friendly and helpful and the hostel is quiet and well run

They very kindly picked us up from the airport in air conditioned van and brought us to the hostel. Check in was very quick and easy. We then enjoyed a couple of beers on the roof. The location is amazing as it is very close to two mosques and the cisterns. The Grand Bazaar is also only a short walk...

Very good place, with a very beautiful terrace, friendly staff, excellent location, good breakfast. The place is clean and quiet, safe and familiar, so you can stay here as long as you wish. All day long, you have access to a computer (+Internet), and you can drink tea and coffee. No kitchen access, no towels. The manager of this hostel...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
