My family and I had a wonderful stay in Istanbul at Marmara Guesthouse. The staff were friendly and always helpful; the location was fantastic with easy walks to most of the major sites in Sultanahmet and beyond, though situated on a quiet street away from much of the noise nearby. The free breakfast was delicious, especially the pancakes and jams...

Delicious breakfast served on the terrace with fantastic sea views. The family who runs the hotel is the best. Friendly, helpful, full of advice and smiles. You feel...

Really enjoyed this lovely guesthouse. The room was very clean, beds comfortable, curtains kept it dark at night, and the staff are very helpful. The terrace is a lovely place to relax at the end of a long day of sight seeing. We were happy with the breakfast and location. Worth booking in advance!

Perfect location near the Sultanahmet sites, close to the touristy restaurants but not in the middle of them. Lovely terrace and breakfast. No bar but drinks available to buy and drink on the terrace, which is a nice touch.

Very nice three floors restored house with a great location, close to all the most important highlights in Istambul but far from the noisy streets, in a pleasant quarter. The terrace, with a nice view to the Marmara Sea, is idilic and you may have breakfast there in the morning or some tea in the afternoon when you come back...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
