We stayed here for 4 nights. The entire guesthouse is very compact. The first two nights they upgraded us to a slightly larger room and the second two we were in the economic room we had booked. The standard was a little larger and had an extra bed, that is nice for space and packing, but the economic room was...

The guesthouse was perfect, just want we wanted. Everything was as we agreed, from collecting us from the airport, our lovely room, fresh homemade breakfasts and the rooftop sitting area. After a long day sightseeing, a cool drink on the terrace overlooking the Bosphorus, exchanging information with other guests, was wonderful. The staff were really helpful and nothing was too much...

Marmara Guesthouse is lovely! The charm is in it NOT being a hotel!! Lovely well appointed rooms and the upstairs terrace with its view over Marmara is sublime.Breakfasts were the best and most plentiful. The guesthouse is mentioned in Lonely Planet with every good reason. Thank you Elif and your staff.

Close to the Blue Mosque and the rest of the sights. Friendly staff, FANTASTIC breakfasts on the roof overlooking the sea. Yagmur speaks excellent English and was very helpful with his knowledge of the city.

The Marmara Guesthouse provided myself and my wife a home in Istanbul for three nights after a cruise from Athens and prior to joining a bus tour around Turkey. The staff were very helpful; the location very good - both for touring and food outlets; the room was a bit small for the money we had paid - we paid...

The staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast divers and delicious, especially the homemade warm pancakes. Location is the best you can get, in a very calm street and a view minutes walk from Topkapi, Blue Mosque and Aya Sofia. Rooms are clean and nice decorated. Best choice!

We spent 4 days in Istanbul and it was so lovely to have a quiet friendly guest house to go back to each day. The staff are so warm and helpful, and the roof terrace with gorgeous views is wonderful both at breakfast time and for a beer late afternoon!

I stayed here twice both before and after a tour of Turkey. The rooms were clean and spacious, the breakfasts on the roof were delicious and the staff was friendly and helpful. I loved the location near the Blue Mosque. They picked me up and took me to the airport, both going very smoothly.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
