We stayed at The Sumahan on our return to Istanbul, at the end of our trip before heading home. This turned out to be perfect; things are quieter on the Asian side, but that was ok for us as we had already seen all of...More
We were concerned staying on the Asian side of Istanbul might hinder our experience, however, we were surprised what an amazing decision it was! Upon our arrrival the staff was nothing but hospitable and friendly. Service was fantastic and efficient. Not one request went unfullfilled...More
With all the special qualities of the Asian Istanbul, this hotel shares a wonderful atmosphere with guests. Loft rooms are excellent in comfort and view to the Bosphorus, seagulls come across the windows to make you feel you're floating in a boat. Although the staff...More
This hotel has been restored very well. Located on the Bosphorous, you get a truly unique view of Turkey. Because we spent our initial 3 days in the city, we wanted to have another experience of staying by the Bosphorous.

Each time I stay here the experience only gets better.

Home to more than half a million residents, Uskudar on the Asian side of the Bosphorus is one of Istanbul’s most densely populated neighbourhoods. Once a Greek colony, later a haven for people from across the Mediterranean and the Middle East, this gateway to Asia has been an active and diverse hub for eons. Still, visitors to Uskudar are often more overcome by its myriad treasures than by its many thousand
residents. And with fairytale settings such as the “Maiden’s Tower” as well as grand examples of Ottoman Era architecture, plenty of parks, a gorgeous and lengthy coastline, and some of Turkey’s holiest sites, there’s no end to the sightseeing possibilities. Easily reached from the city’s European shores via a steady network of ferries, time spent in Uskudar reveals a “real life” Istanbul that many who experience find extremely fascinating.

As I remember, there was one around 9am and another around 11am and another after 1pm then coming back there were 3 or 4 after noon up til about 8pm. But you should write them from their website and they will send you a schedule. The frequency and lateness of trips somewhat depends on the season as I recall. It is a very sweet boat with inside and outside seating for about 10 people and a lovely way to travel to Karikoy where you can get the tram to the old city (Sultanhamet) or ferries to Kadikoy. You need to schedule in advance with the front desk especially during the high tourist season. We were there in April so it wasn't a problem. Hope that is helpful.
