To this day I am still very puzzled as to how Citadel Youth Hostel is number one on hostelworld. That said, hostels have been my accommodation of choice over the past 5 years on my travels so I have had my fair share of terrible hostels - this would fit snuggly at the bottom fo my list. The bathrooms are...

This has to be the best hostel in Jerusalem. In the Armenian quarter, close to most famous landmarks, the building is built from old, old stone giving an ancient, cave like effect in keeping with the rest of the Old City. There is an option to stay on the roof with mattresses, pillows and blankets which are provided. For just...

My first few nights in a private room were good, that was the only positive to my stay. Then I moved to a dorm room. Every night I don't get more than a few hours of sleep. People in the room were disrespectful of others, coming in past midnignt drunk and loud and people down the hallways were noisy. There...

This hostel is pretty good, very centralized in old city, they have a good staff. But the negative point for me are the bathrooms, are horrible, too small and non functional. I spent a night sleeping in the roof and was awesome, a bit cold and few noises from the churches, even at night.

I stayed several nights in a private room which was little more than a cupboard but clean, although the sheets were not changed throughout my stay. I would say that the private rooms could be a little better value for money. I extended my stay by a couple of nights and subsequently spent the night in a dormitory before sleeping...

Great atmosphere, amazing building, 500 year old walls. Okay, the showers are not the most comfortable, but they do their job, the dorms are quite stuffed with beds, but that’s what dorms usually are. The only thing that was really negative for me was that there were no lockers or shelves in the rooms. Great locations, right in the old...

The staff at Citadel were really friendly and helpful, and the vibe at the hostel was pretty chill. We stayed in a private room with 1 full bed and 1 twin. The full size bed was actually really comfortable, the twin size had some plastic covering that didn’t seem so comfy. We had a window in our room which was...

When I saw I could sleep on the roof in their rooftop tent I was excited. Not half as exciting was seeing that the tent covering the roof was no longer there .. just open air .. The day I arrived it was raining yet They just took my money and pointed upstairs to the roof The service is cold...

I stayed in a female dorm (9 beds) and it was very badly ventilated. There was no window, the room was dusty. The toilets had water leakage, so the floor was often inundated. However, the location was very good.

Stayed on the roof with crappy mattresses with 20+ other people. I wanted to kick 3 snorers but that couldn't happen. Woke up in the am and the fridge door was falling off and my food was spoiled. The kitchen had no stuff to use and the bathrooms were not pleasant. The place could be so much better if they...
