Ruti Barkai is an artist who lives in a quiet residential neighborhood a short walk from both the Old City and Ben Yehudah Street, so the location was perfect for us. Her short street is hard to find so get a good map before you get into a cab. If you can get the garden studio, that is probably the...

Barkai studio is the perfect place to stay in Jerusalem: the location is excellent, just 5min from Damascus gate and New gate. So you can basically walk everywhere in the Old City, go to Olives Mount easily, and Jaffa Street and the new city are also about 10min walk. We had the garden studio which is very nice, you can...

We enjoyed our visit to Barkai studios this spring. Ruthi is a lovely person that really tried to make our stay enjoyable. The location is excellent and easy walk to the old city and city center. The price is still a good deal, especially with the location. One strange note, turns out the rate is cheaper in US dollars, than...

In March, we stayed for a week at Barkai Studios again, having been there also in July. It is truly like coming home for us! Ruti is the warmest, kindest, most helpful person and the apartments are lovely -- comfortable, clean, quiet, and perfectly located. Between Ruti's generosity, the charm of the neighborhood, the convenience of the studio's set-up, and...

If this is number one, then don't stay at a B&B in Jerusalem. By the way, it is not a B&B anyway. In fact, it is barely a B. No breakfast, hard tiny beds, the smell of cat litter pervasive, shower/sink combo that is tiny for a child. This is a good place for someone on a tight budget with...

Hostess Ruti made our two week stay a pleasure and was really helpfull in every way. This B&B is ideally situated only a 20 minute bus ride to the Central Bus Station from where busses go to all destinations in Israel. It's a 20 minute down hill walk to the Arab bus station to go to Jordan. Importantly it's in...

Ruti is great and tried to help us always! No one will bother you unless you need help. I like the home feel here! The location is convenient too. Anyway, for Studio A, it need some fix work for the ladder, and the toilet is a bit small. We hope we can stay longer and at Studio G! Thanks Ruti...

This summer was our 3rd year staying at Barkai Studios, each time for 3+ weeks. It has been our home away from home when visiting family in Israel. Ruti is a great host, friendly, knowledgeable, unobtrusive and with lots of good advice and information about the city. It's not a hotel so don't expect daily maid service. But rates are...

Our stay at the Barkai studio was super; everything you need is avaiable. All sightseeings and shops are at walking distance. Ruthie was very kind to us and helped us out a lot. We liked the little garden and we're sure we'll come back!

One of Ruti Barkai's charming studios is the perfect base for exploring this fascinating city. I stayed in studio A, and it had everything I needed -- a nice, big, comfortable bed; an air conditioner (a necessity in August!); a table for writing or dining; and a kitchenette with all the basics. Free wireless Internet, too! The two main studios...

“The garden apartment is located in the private garden. This garden is used by all people who stay - but we feel well in that place and we had private place to eat family breakfast. Normally the apartment is designed for 2 people. But we fit perfectly with our 4 years old son. And the location is perfect! There is a play ground around 200 m from the apartment. So after 15 km of walking your child can still play in the play ground for the next 2 hours....”
