Detailed Reviews
My friend and I enoy eating out in Jerusalem. We have often discssed doing breakfast but couldn't decide among the many choices availablle. Today we decided to go to the much talked abot Waldorf Astoria.. We made reservations for 8:30 AM and arrived early at this stunning property situated near the historic Old City. The breakfast area is adacent to the capacious lobby and has a simple elegance that evokes an earlier hotel on this site from the time of the British administration. We were greeted warmly and paid upfront for an all inclusive meal that includes all beverages and entrees in addition to a sumptuous buffet..Knowing that we could eat and drink to our hearts content took away the concern about add-ons that sometimes mount rapidly. We started with large cups of cappuccinos and ordered an omlette and eggs Benedict. There was a large selection of breads in one corner, a bar and dessert selection in the middle area and an entire room filled with hot dishes, fish, salads and fresh fruits to name a few selections. Israeli hotel buffets are famous and this ranks up with the best. Added to this was the personal service provided by the courteous wait staff. I wish I could name them all. We had a smiling young Israeli woman , a man of my age from Spanish Morocco, a new immigrant from Russia and a legion of helpers who whisked away our used dishes discretly.. We indulged in French toast at the end and toasted our meal with champagne (included). Overall the ambience , the quality and quantity of the food , and the open hospitality made this a memorable experience.. As my friend remarked after mingling with guests and staff alike we experienced a vibrant slice of Israeli life at an otherwise turbulent time. Hats also off to the kitchen chefs and staff for the presentation and tastiness of the incredible array of food and drink. We will be back again soon when visitors return to Israel..

Hotel's Favourite
Just returned from my 13th visit to the superb Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem. Special thanks to Ihab from the front office who was very courteous and extremely helpful. Thanks to other staff from the front desk: Mohammed, Paulo, Assem and Karim.
David, from the Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem Security team, always with a nice smile and ready to help in any way possible. And a nice welcome at the hotel entrance by Ghoul and Neuber.
Special mention to Maamoon and Fuad, the 2 professional Maitre d’hotel who continuously welcomed me with a warm smile and constantly went beyond to cater to all of my requests. And thanks to Hassan for assisting with my custom requests. And thank you Ira from the Dining room and thanks to Lila for the exceptional in-room dining service.
It is always exciting to see the new foods added to the extraordinary Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem breakfast. New long baguette rolls. The tasty Matjes herring. And a yummy new croissant with an almond cream filling and crushed pistachios on top of the croissant. Mouth-watering breakfast.
Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem. The Dream Hotel of the Middle East.

We spent one night in this hotel first impressions are excellent with a warm welcome on arrival and a friendly and efficient check in baggage handling was equally well handled with minimum delay .Our rooms (615 and 607 ) were reasonably spacious for a city centre hotel and were presented in a very clean condition ,in the whole hotel appears spotlessly clean throughout ,the rooms were elegantly furnished with a small balcony. The bathroom was very well equipped with jack and Jill basins and a full range of average quality toiletries, the shower was excellent with instant hot water and superb water pressure , the towels however although plentiful looked and felt as though they had seen better days. Sleep quality was excellent on crisp white sheets .Housekeeping was also very good supplied by vert friendly and courteous staff. There is a breakfast option which is a standard combination of buffet and Ala Carte items was again excellent although i found the service which was very polite to be rather intrusive on occasion . Externally there is a fantastic indoor pool with a sauna and steam room as well as a superb spa which my wife enjoyed in short we have stayed in a number of high end 5 star hotels such as the Mandarine Oriental , Ritz Carlton etc and felt the Waldorf ranked very well in comparison.

Enjoyed my 14th visit to the outstanding Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem. Many hotels claim that they “aim to please”, however the Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem goes way over and beyond the typical “aim to please”.
Starting with my email to the Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem prior to my arrival with my custom requests for this stay. In only 12 minutes from the time that I hit send on my email, Siham from the Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem had already responded to my email. The wonderful Ihab from the Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem front desk gave the approvals for my special requests and the amazing Rami from the Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem front desk remembered specifically which room we like to have at the hotel and he set aside that room for our stay.
As soon as I arrived at the hotel, David from the Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem Security team, recommended to me a local tourist site that he figured I would enjoy. And he was spot on.
Fuad, the excellent weekday Maitre d’hotel gave me his typical warm welcome as soon as he saw me. Maamoon, the outstanding weekend Maitre d’hotel is another example of someone who truly consistently does way over and beyond the typical “aim to please”. And a thank you to Sumaya, Maxim and Hanna for assisting with my custom requests.
I enjoyed the daily breakfast buffets (huge spread) and the special Friday night buffet (You must try the delicious Entrecote Steak and Corned beef) and the Sabbath/Saturday lunch buffet (The Lamb spare-ribs are yum). The food quality is excellent, and the servers are very friendly.
Upon my return, I sent an email with an important request to the hotel. Gilly responded to my email in only 5 minutes and informed me that Ihab from the Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem front desk had already taken care of this request.

I am a Hilton Diamond member and had booked a 3 night stay but checked out after just 1 night. As a Muslim, and during the fasting month, and in a country with people of similar values, I had expectations that an international 5 star hotel would cater to my requirements acutely. Before I checked in, I received the usual Waldorf “welcome concierge email” upon which I replied and requested a “smoothie and crepes” for our early morning breakfast. I was told that my request would be passed on to the kitchen and heard nothing thereafter.
I was checked in by Ameer who was wonderful and highly hospitable and did his absolute best to make us feel comfortable, when in reality we didn’t feel comfortable at all. We received a generous upgrade. Ameer and his attentiveness was our only good experience.
Thereafter, we were advised that no hot food could be served to us due to another religious festival which the hotel seemingly solely prescribes to. My previous requests before check in, I was told are no longer doable. It was also abundantly clear to me that having dinner at the hotel restaurants would not be an affair received warmly. I proceeded to order cold food from room service, only to be served in disposable cups, disposable plates and plastic cutlery. Yes, DISPOSABLE cutlery and plates at a $700 a night hotel. The money I pay is the same as all other guests, and yet I wonder why it is we were served with different cutlery because as I walked down the corridors I noticed the hotel does indeed serve “other guests” with fine and fancy China and cutlery. As a South African born and having lived in the apartheid era, the memories flooded back quickly.
The Waldorf needs to understand that their country has signed to the Abraham Accords and there are a lot more guests like me coming their way soon and they need to start doing a lot more to make us feel comfortable. Do more, not say more.

The Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem is a hotel that touches all the bases of what makes a hotel superior: appearance, cleanliness, quality, service, but this hotel has them all beat. Before you can pay your taxi driver your bags are out of the taxi and ready to be deposited to your room. The concierge Bilel, continues to help you throughout your stay and the doormen are warm and welcoming, able to summon a taxi effortlessly. The brunches are delicious and service wonderful. The people at this hotel made the price worthwhile because they made you feel you were really in vacation . Fantastic hotel!!

My wife and I spent a week at The Waldorf in May 2022. We were happy to return to Israel 2 years since the Israeli government barred foreigners from entry. We love Jerusalem and we have stayed at The Waldorf, King David, and Citadel in the past. This trip, we returned to The Waldorf because of its walking proximity to the Old City, and because the hotel is somewhat new with all modern amenities.
There seems to be a problem in Jerusalem. None of the hotels can get decent help. The housekeeping at The Waldorf are staffed with older men. As result, as expected, the rooms are not clean. Additionally, although the hotel is less than 10 years old, it appears run down. The hallway carpets are frayed, and the walls are banged up with scuff marks. (We avoided the King David because that hotel is massively run down, and the rooms are filthy.)
The management at The Waldorf was pleasant and they did try to provide a hospitable and comfortable stay, but in no way is the staff high end or professional.
All the Jerusalem Hotels include breakfast buffet. After staying at the Citadel, King David, and Waldorf, we do rate the Waldorf as the worst breakfast of the three. I ordered an egg omelet on two separate mornings, and unfortunately, they were the worst omelets I ever had in my life.
Nonetheless, my wife and I were happy with our stay, and we would go back. Among the bad hotels near the Old City, the Waldorf is the lesser of all evils. We won’t be disappointed because our expectations are so low.

I’ve came to this hotel after being in another hotel one day before and because this hotel cost twice ,my expectations were high and I was disappointed.
The good things are:balcony, very nice breakfast and the fact they left me cakes and champagne in the room because I’ve told it’s my birthday
and also central location
But the sauna is with very low temperature, somebody took our robe from chair while we were 3 min in sauna, there is no cold water in shower and it is not written that tax will be added to the sum paid(another one hundred dollars)I have found later that tax could be added in small letters but usually you see the whole amount when ordering a room so for me the cost benefit value was low,I have never stayed night in 700 dollars and thought it will be something special but it is not.

I have reviewed the WA Jerusalem before but there just aren't enough words to explain how much I love this hotel.
Israel isn't known for service. The people, while amazing aren't as service oriented as in other places. Ok, I get it, but once in a while you want to be pampered and treated like royalty. For that, we come to the Waldorf in Jerusalem form our place in Tel Aviv every summer for just one night.
From the doorman in hit top hat to the exquisite lobby, you immediately feel different. Check-in is pleasant and they always offer a tour from a concierge. We passed but how nice is that...
Our room, perfection. Clean, fresh smelling, ironed high quality sheets, Ahava bath products, perfect lighting, perfect shower with great pressure and a rain shower head, a huge soaker tub, soft robes and service second to none.
Breakfast in the restaurant is the stuff of dreams. Perhaps the best breakfast in Israel which is known for amazing breakfasts.
My wife says she could live at this WA and we travel a lot and see a lot. This is her happy place and that makes me happiest.
Can't wait to see you again summer 2024 Waldorf.

The room was a 10. We chose AMEX preferred hotels to purchase for early checkin (noon). Not the most inexpensive route. We were very excited.
We arrived at 2:15p We had to wait an hour and a half 3:45 and still didn’t get checked in and had a meeting at 4. We were offered deserts and beverage which took too long. So they said they’d send it to our room with our luggage. We also asked them to make us a dinner reservation to use our $100 AMEX credit at. When we returned at 6:30 pm our luggage wasn’t in our room and neither were deserts or beverage. They made our reservation at 8 pm at a 4th tapas place. Sparse menu but we ordered figuring it was the only restaurant. Found out later that the main restaurant was downstairs with a full delicious menu. Couldn’t understand why they didn’t book us there. So we wanted $100 and was hungry. We were asked about our experience and explained. At 11:20 pm, while in bed, there was a knock on the door and desserts and coffee came. What a waste and disruption. When we left we were stuck in the parking garage at the gate waiting to be let out because the hotel didn’t enter the details properly.
Just couldn’t execute like a 5 star hotel though rooms are beautiful.
Was given assurances by many that they’d “take care of us the next time we visit” but I’m afraid they’ll forget about us or management will change by the time we return.

No...however you can walk to the Western Wall from the hotel...the hotel is in a great location!
Dear Cindy PJ N,
Guests are welcome to make their reservations as they please, we do not stipulate any such restrictions.
Dear Julesjersey,
Work has indeed begun and we look forward to opening the full facilities in February 2020.
I very much regret they will not yet be available during your December stay.
Dear Dobson-Shaw,
Your fellow travelers have provided excellent information. Indeed all Jerusalem hotels are kosher, significance being the following: specific dietary restrictions, meat and dairy served separately, on Sabbath and Jewish holidays menu available is the traditional Sabbath meals or a cold menu. Also as noted - there are quite a few superb non-kosher restaurants in the close vicinity.
In the event you wish to contact us directly, we would be more than happy further clarify and assist.
