I arrived on a Saturday and was willing to pay extra in order to check in before noon. Well I couldn't check in until 5 pm. The hotel lobby is full of cheap tourists, the food is disgusting and so was the room after I...More
This is just an average hotel. I refuse to accept that this could be a 4 star property with extremely poor staff response, room maintenance. imagine, you need an iron board and press for pressing your clothes, you are asked to come to reception and...More
Went here on part of a tour group, and a few of the members had BED BUGS in their room, but luckily they were switched. The air conditioning was turned off on Shabbat, which made it intolerable in the hot summer. They did not have...More

I'm not sure about their dinner package but if it is anything like the breakfast don't book the package (unless you're kosher and have a lot of money to spend) there is a grocery store behind the hotel as well as several restaurants. If you walk 10 minutes there is maheme yahuda for food or you can jump on the train behind the hotel to old city. There are plenty of easy and affordable dinner options.

Nothing is open on Friday evening until sundown, the following Saturday in Jerusalem. It is Shabbat. Well, almost nothing. You can google a list of restaurants and tourists sites open during those hours. At the Gold I think you can reserve the special Shabbat luncheon on Saturday. No vending machines at the Gold, no coffee or tea on Saturday.
