The room is small but well designed and really beautiful. The beds were too soft for me, but that's always a problem for me at hotels. The location is very central, there is no parking but a short walk away you can park in a garage. I would skip breakfast and go eat at the market or one of the many nearby cafes (breakfast is in a cafe anyway).

First the good: the hotel is in a great, central location steps away from Carmel Market. The staff were all friendly, the views from the (heated) rooftop pool are glorious, particularly at sunset, and the lobby and common areas are any design lover’s dream.

What really disappointed us, however, was our room. We booked a Poli Deluxe room without a balcony on the basis that (i) we were visiting in January and (ii) we’d read that the rooms fronting the Main Street were quite noisy. This category of room looked fairly spacious on the website. In actually fact we were given a rather small room with a balcony. Perhaps the hotel thought they were doing us a favour by giving us a room with a balcony but it was really noisy at night. The room itself was frustratingly impractical, particularly the bathroom. There were sloping shelves which were quite small anyway but their design meant our cosmetics slid off them. There were no hooks anywhere in the room to hang jackets/coats or towels and no tea/coffee making facilities. It is like the designer of the room never actually considered what staying in the room would be like. We only stayed two nights but I don’t think we could have tolerated the room much longer. We otherwise loved the hotel but the ridiculous design of the rooms alone is reason enough as to why we wouldn’t stay here again.

All in all I liked the hotel, there were just a few things that annoyed me.

The first thing was the reception. For some reason it's on the topfloor of the hotel. Why not on the groundfloor? There was plenty of room.

The hotel is situated in a beautifully restored Bauhaus building and the rooms are nicely designed and of a decent size.

But why were there no hooks in the bathroom or in the room proper? My towels were draped over a chair in the room.

I booked a room with a balcony of its own - great. But the chairs on the balcony were very uncomfortable. I tried bringing the chair (with the draped towel :-)) to the balcony, but it was too big. I'm sure the balcony chairs were designed by a very famous designer, but I really would prefer a less expensive chair that you can actually sit in without hurting your back.

The hotel is located just next to the Carmel Market and very close to Shenkin and King George Street with a lot of cafés and restaurants, and it only takes about 10 minutes to walk to the beach.

The rooftop with the bar and the pool is just great and the reason why I'm considering booking another stay a Poli House

We stayed in the junior suite for two nights and it is quite small with a unattractive view overlooking the street. Aside from this, no one came to clean the room between the days. The other visitors on our floor were loud and occupied the hallways constantly. The hotel staff did not help with this situation. There is no food available at the hotel. They seemed understaffed as the two times we requested something in the room we were asked to come to the bar on the third floor to get it ourselves. Not worth the extremely high prices during the holiday weekend.

The good stuff first.
Location at the top of Carmel market. 10mins walk from the beach. 10 mins walk to Rothschild Boulevard.
Now the bad stuff.
The reception is on the 3rd floor( there are no signs or reason for this.
Took us 15 mins to find it.
Throughout 3 nights stay I had to escort 4 couples to reception.
Night manager was rude. Totally contradicted his day manager colleague as far as payments required.
No breakfast available.
Rooftop bar only open from Thursday evenings.
Swimming pool off limits as there was no attendant.
Rooms need a face-lift.
Tv didn't work properly. Poorly finished fixtures and fittings. Electrics behind the TV were exposed in my room . Room 116.
Shower flooded bedroom floor if direction wasn't quite right.
Soundproofing not good enough as I could hear everything outside all night and morning. Wolt drivers with music playing loudly all night up and down the outside street. Sometimes they left their bikes outside the restaurant opposite with music blaring out.
Sometimes the cleaners didn't leave a bottle of complimentary water in the room leading to being charged minibar prices on branded water.

Hello Buffnut, We're sorry to read about your stay with us. The reception is located on the 3rd. floor of the hotel as it very well shown in sign in the entrance. We're sorry that our payment policy caused you inconvenience - but that's customary company policy. Our guests are most welcome to enjoy breakfast at very well hand-picked cafes around us or on the rooftop bar on weekends, which opens on Thursday morning and operates during the weekend. While it's closed there's a variety of beverages for our guests pleasure and completely free of charge. We're sorry for the mishap in your room - should you have contacted us we would have been more than happy to fix it for you or have you moved to another room of your convenience. We were delighted to read you enjoyed the hotel's central location even though it might have been a bit too noisy for your taste. Best regards - the Poli team.

Because of the coronavirus, Israel had to close its borders. We were unable to make our trip in April 2020. We asked for a refund of our reservation. Brown hotel refuses and offers us a voucher for later. it is not our request we want a refund. All hotels in Israel were very understanding and they all agreed to reimburse us except this one. Be very careful before booking with them, as we all do not know how the situation related to the coronavirus will evolved.
I hope they will change their mind and be more comprehensive in the future with their clients that are as hostages in this situation.

The hotel is super modern to the hotels I’ve stayed at in TLV. They advertise there is a gym but in reality the gym is a few blocks away in a partner hotel. I paid for breakfast but this also was not in the hotel…they supply vouchers for a few restaurants close…which was sort of nice because you get a better neighbors feel.

If you like quiet ask for a room NOT overlooking Allenby. I had a room overlooking that street and it is loud but I enjoyed opening the window and seeing the day to day of locals.

I stayed at the Poli House last week. It can be best described as lipstick on a pig.

A stay at the Poli House comes with a lot of fun and excitement. For example, you might be sleeping and a fun guest will enter unannounced. You'll think you're dying and then see the blood stains on the curtain and wonder what happened in room 219. I think Olga, the manager, is keeping secrets.

Another exciting thing at the Poli House is that you'll be quoted a price for the night and then the price on your credit card will be totally different. What fun! The Poli House breaks up the monotony of your week with these fun riddles and games.

If you've ever seen the Alfred Hitchcock movie, The Birds, that is exactly what the pool at the Poli House is like. The birds dive bomb into the water as guests scream in horror. These birds also eat the food ordered by the guests as they lay by the pool. Do you like your Margarita imbued with bird droppings? No. Now you do.

In the days that I've stayed at the Poli House the birds became stronger due to excessive caloric intake. In fact, one of the birds snatched an infant out of his mother's arms and carried the baby in its talons to Jaffa. We all screamed except for a man beside me who was very calm about the whole thing and simply said "That's the Poli House for ya".

When I say that dreams die at the Poli House, I mean it. I met a woman who was 4 weeks away from becoming an astronaut but then she stayed at the Poli House.

I've lost all hope and meaning. I was a dreamer before I stayed at the Poli house.

Overall it's a great hotel. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Very nice location / nice bar, rooftop and swimming pool and warm welcome. The breakfast has to be taken in coffees near to the restaurant but they advise nice places at very close locations. Less than 500m from the sea and at the entry of the flea market

Confirmed reservation but front desk kept us waiting 2 hours to check in and then lost their temper with us - their credit card machine wasn't working but they would not let us into the room even though we offered 4 cards and my brother (who lives locally) offered to pay but the receptionist seemed weirdly to enjoy telling us "computer says no" . He refused and then said we were problematic guests as if that was a surprise after z24 hours of travel and facing someone who prefer to watch Netflix rather than check guests (returning to this hotel for the 15 time.) I'm now lying on the cold tile floor in the hotel reception waiting for the Browns hotel offices to open. We also cannot legally even leave the hotel cos we have 24 hours isolation. Obvi he chose the wrong profession.

Hello YiddisheMamaLondo, We're terribly sorry to hear about your experience during check-in, but also respectfully asking to present the things as they are. our CC system was working perfectly fine and unfortunately we are not able to accept guests without a valid and working CC. We understand the frustration of not being able to get a room after a long flight but in this matter at that moment our hands were tied, we also prefer to keep to ourselves, out of respect - some things that have been said and done towards the staff. You will always be welcome in our hotel and we wish you nothing but the best. The Poli Team.
