The Crowne Plaza Tel Aviv Beach Hotel is beautifully situated right on the beach (as opposed to some hotels across the road) and has some of the nicest staff anywhere. Prior to our arrival, we were in touch with the general manager, Yosef Cohen, a very helpful and welcoming person. Edita at the front desk, as well as Mariya, were equally great, as was Michael, the lead concierge. They were helpful at every turn. Nicholas Wolff in the breakfast dining room was also caring and helpful. Other staff members did not speak English well, but this did not pose big problems for us. We were initially in an updated room on a high floor that was too small for our needs, so we moved to a junior suite for the remaining nights of our stay. It was a bit more dated but the spaciousness was welcome: it included a table and chairs for dining.. The hotel has technologically innovative "smart elevators" that we liked. Katya in the Executive Lounge was lovely. One single drawback is the that elevators do not go down all the way to the beach level, requiring guests to descend about 20 stairs, which would be difficult for someone in a wheelchair or with mobility issues.

My husband had a business trip and we stayed here for six nights. The staff is amazing and were always friendly and helpful.

Our room had everything we needed besides a refrigerator. There is one but it is a mini bar/snack area for sales. To get ice you must go all the way to the lobby bar with your ice bucket.

The pool area is okay. Pool is nice, chairs are available, lifeguard is on duty. It is shaded for the most part and closes at 6:00 pm every day. So if you are working you cannot go there to relax afterwards. Also the towel area did not have any towels one morning for us to use and no attendant in sight.

Gym area is decent. I was surprised there was not any supplies to clean equipment after each use.

The breakfast buffet (included with room) had a wide variety of options. The food was good. They freshly made juices each morning had had a coffee barista making coffees.

There was air raid sirens one evening and the staff gathered the guests and directed them to the shelter. It was a little confusing at first, but the manager was directing the employees on what needed to be done.

We enjoyed our stay here.

The hotel and staff were lovely. We’d like to give particular praise to Maria on reception who was always smiling and helpful. Breakfast was fabulous. We were upgraded to the executive floor (16). The room was big and very comfortable. The bathroom and facilities equally good. The balcony - which is the same throughout the hotel was tiny and scary. We were disappointed with the pool area. The beds are packed together like sardines so you are literally on top of people. There was a water fountain in the corner but no cups. If you wanted a drink you had to go to the main hotel lobby bar. The pool has a retractable roof which they only opened half way meaning the pool was shaded for a lot of the day. Overall, a nice hotel with lovely staff but use the beach rather than the pool.

As old with historical architecture that Jerusalem is, Tel Aviv, but contrast is a modern bustling city with a vibrancy that is infective to one’s soul. Located right on the beach with a boardwalk right out the back door, this hotel is “the place to be.” It is located within easy walking distance from Dizengoff Street, a major shopping street with restaurants, boutiques, art galleries and much more.

If you’re a beach bum, you can just take a beach towel to relax in the sun. However, there are a myriad of activities to choose from. You can play Kadima (a paddle game with a ball) where you must keep the ball in the air like juggling a soccer ball). Groups of people were playing beach volley ball and about a block away, we saw a “professional“ volley ball game in progress with paved step stands to sit and watch. Next door to the hotel in an open space on the boardwalk, there was a group of 50-100 doing Israeli dancing on the weekend. We joined in but didn’t know the steps. Nobody cared. Through it all is a paved serpentine path where you can jog, ride rental scooters or bicycles, or just sit and watch the world go by.

We took a room with breakfast and concierge service inclusive. It was located on a high floor with special access to a lounge all day. It is well worth the expense because they have a buffet setup that is constantly being refilled with different items based on time of day (breakfast, lunch, dinner or happy hour). There is always coffee, tea, cold drinks and one can order from the bar at an additional expense. However, wine, beer and prosecco are free. My wife had a friend who had moved from New York several years ago. You are allowed one outside guest per concierge level hotel guest; so, we were able to spend an afternoon with Arlee’s friend at no additional cost. Full picture windows overlook the beach while you sit in airconditioned comfort.

IHG has done it right. The hotel is easy to reach by taxi from the airport or train station. It has all of the amenities on site, including a health club, which has a pool, a gym, dry and wet saunas. There is even an art gallery off the lobby. We heartily recommend this hotel to you and will definitely book it the next time we’re in Tel Aviv.

What a disappointment of a IHG property. From check in to check out this hotel disappointed. Upon arrival I was greeted by an old worn out lobby that was warm and moist, checked in for my reserved "deluxe king room with sea view " and was sent to a room on the 5th floor which can only be described as disgusting, with a partial view of the street, a partial view of the boardwalk, a sliver of ocean and a great view of the dome of the swimming pool. My "king" bed was two twins pushed together. I tried to call downstairs to reception but the phone did not work, so I went down to talk to the manager on duty and explained what I had reserved and paid for, he said there was nothing he could do since the hotel was sold out, when I told him that I expected a refund for the room I paid for he said he could not help. Since it was 1 am I was forced to stay there. The next morning I went to make a coffee in room and when putting water in the coffee machine I noticed it was all moldy and green so I passed on that, the minbar was underneath and leaking water (perhaps from melting ice). Around 5pm I went to the pool which is on level -1 and went through a maze to get to the pool which was dark, had loose screws, nails and wire in the pathway due to construction, finally got to the pool which had no towels, no water for the guests, only a locked cooler with no attendant, I was able to enjoy the pool area for 45 minutes until the lifeguard makes you leave at 6 which is a shame since it's light and warm until 8pm in the summer months.

I could say the breakfast was good, but the guests run around like they never had a meal before and the staff is useless, I am still waiting for my milk to put in my coffee.

Overall a mediocre 2 star hotel that clearly does not take pride in the property and certainly does not try to cater to its guests. The funny thing is I was expecting a differant experience since from the time of booking I was getting whatsapp messages to ensure that my stay would be a memorable one.

Shame on you IHG and crown plaza tel aviv beach.

We spent a wonderful week at this hotel in February. We opted for a partial sea view room and had an amazing view of both the ocean and city. The room was modern, beautiful, and looked as if it had been recently updated. Housekeeping was very friendly. We got to know the woman servicing our room, Sarah, and she even notified us as we were walking to say she would get to our room after lunch. Just a friendly FYI – very professional. The room was always spotless. They have an advanced elevator system which notifies you of your specific elevator. It is so efficient, and we barely waited for our elevators throughout the week. The location is fantastic. Extremely walkable to restaurants and shops. We had a day excursion and simply had to cross the street to a bus stop as a pickup point. I would say many of the tours likely would stop in this popular area so you wouldn’t have to walk far for most of them as a meeting point. We always felt safe whether early morning or an evening walking back from dinner. Gordon beach was wonderful. There is a long sand bank to walk out to where you can be in the water from ankle depth or deeper. This is perfect for younger children or even just to wade in February as the water was still a bit cool but, a few times, when it was warmer, swimming is possible. The morning breakfast has a huge selection: made-to-order omelettes to waffles to hummus. There is something for everyone and, especially, easy to eat healthy. There is even a super food section. The breakfast room has a wall of glass overlooking the boardwalk and beach. The indoor pool (has a retractable room) was open on the weekends. Please note that the weekend in Israel is Friday and Saturday. Some hotels barely heat their pools but whenever we were in, it felt like bath water. This was fantastic. All the staff was friendly and really tried to provide a good atmosphere. There was an issue and the hotel went out of their way to correct and make up for it. This made us very happy. Issues can happen but how an entity handles the situation speaks volumes. Until now we are always loyal to Marriott, especially due to our platinum status, however, this hotel has shown us that IHG is definitely a viable alternative.

How can this have a 5 star rating. The hotel is tired, not decorated for years or furniture changed. The lifts are scratched and dark. The carpets in hallways not hoovered for months by the looks of it. On checking the room was not clean, the sink was filthy as was the shower. The floor was so dirty I walked across and my feet were black! The chairs in restaurant are all plastic leather look alike and peeling. Only fresh fruit for breakfast is chopped fruit salad or melon yet when you go to the markets lovely fruit! The bread is baked once and seems to be there for days once the bagels or whatever are gone that’s it. 4 days no fresh baked bread. Customers are walking into breakfast in their pajama and piling food high on plates then asking the staff for foil containers to take the food away!
The pool area is small too many smokers leaving ash which doesn’t get cleaned regularly. The door to the beach was broken and the emergency door locked and on report to staff they said no worries they could open it from above. When we explained it was at the bottom of stairs if there was a fire we wouldn’t be able to get out they didn’t seem to understand that doors should not be locked, fire hazard. There was an old mattress left in the hall with a damaged chair near to our room for 3 days and plug sockets hanging from the wall. The staff are not particularly knowledgeable and gave no information on checkin other than a typed sheet. They insist on taking £200 from a card despite paying for room in full and we’re adamant this is the law in Tel Aviv, the assistant manager was rude and unhelpful. Overall disappointing worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Expensive and not a 5 star.

This was my first time to Israel and Tel Aviv didn't disappoint despite still being in the covid crisis. The hotel was taking all the precautions necessary, masks, gel everywhere so the feel of the place was different I am sure. Despite this the restaurant was open and the food was good, same with breakfast. Friendly chef. My room was on the 14th floor with a great view of the beach and city, all rooms would see this as the hotel is built side on. Excellent life on the beach for anyone interested in fitness or lounging around.

We arrived early hours of the morning and has to wait a while to be let into hotel, but once inside check in was swift.

The room was very spacious and huge shower in bathroom. tea/coffee facilities, very large comfortable bed and a great view of the beach from a small balcony.

Breakfast in the morning seem to have no structure. Didn't know how to get food or what was on offer. Eventually a staff member approached me and was served a omelette only to discover other options of breakfast was available. I will know next time through hotel. But some sort of information about breakfast set-up would be better.

Is this hotel still under renovation and will I be impacted in September?
Answer from Sam S
Wilton, Connecticut172 contributions43 helpful votes
We were there in mid July and yes, it is still under renovation. However it was only on the outside of the building at that time. The lobby and cafeteria looks new and I believe that was completed already. The rooms are older and when the temperature was at 100 (36 Celsius) the AC had trouble keeping up. it was not hot but not particularly cool either. Also the safe needed a new battery service, the shower had a broken shower head, and the futon had no sheets so we had to call for those as well. Everything was fixed the first day but the fact was we had to discover all these faults in their service and then they had to come up and fix all three things. So be aware while the service is good as is the lobby and the cafeteria, the rooms while nice seem to need some maintenance at times.
