The service was excellent. The front desk people were very helpful. We arrived early the morning...7am. We were prepared to just drop our luggage and find a place to eat.
We were welcomed, checked in to the available room, told to enjoy breakfast.

Arriving late (2am) from Athens, we chose to spend the rest of the night and leave for Petra the next morning. Did not expect much. Just a bed and a bathroom for a good price.
Big minus lack of shades on a east oriented room!...More

Hi there. There is a daily bus to Petra leaving from Amman early in the morning. I am not sure where you would pick it up if staying at Madaba. A taxi ride to Amman from Madaba is inexpensive and can be arranged by Charl at Hotel Mariam. We chose to go to Petra from Madaba by private car with a driver arranged by Charl. It has the advantage that you can make a diversion to umm al rasas (well worth a visit) and to Kerac Castle. Set price of around 70 - 80 JD.
