really nice little hostel. i had just come from a 4 star hotel in amman, and this place was actually a lot better! warm water - check. free wifi - check. no 2-day long blackouts - check! staff are all friendly and ready to help out. it was a bit quiet in winter-didn't see too many other travellers- but we...

This place reminds you why hostels exist--it's a well-kept inexpensive lodging in a great neighborhood, and it's filled with good-natured travelers of all nationalities and ages. I went to Syria on by myself, and anchored the trip with a stay at the Damascus Hostel on either end. This ended up being a great decision, because not only did I meet...

I was surprised when the one of the owner open the door. From outside it looks like a disaster, but when you come inside is an incredible hostel and the staff very very very nice. The rooms and the bathroom very clean and very comfortable. If I come back to Damascus I will go there again. Gemma - Barcelona

I didnt know what to expect when I booked the Damscus Hostel and when I wlked up to the door with no sign outside I did start to wonder. I can honestly say that this hostel went far beyond my expectations. The rooms are basic but clean, the rope ladder is a novelty and the staff were so friendly and...

Myself and my partner took a punt and stayed at Damascus Hostel nearly 2 years ago on our way from Europe. At the time the hostel was having some work /renovation on some sections so we found it a bit noisy and it seemed to cause some inconvenience to guests. We visited Syria for a week, and spent most of...

Had an amazing time in Damascus. This place is friendly, welcoming, relaxed and has so much character. The people i met there were great, and the rooms were neat, clean and tidy. Great value for money. I highly recommend it.

We stayed at Damascus Hostel for four nights in October 2010 in a double room. I had read the glowing reviews and some of those comments hold true, however in my view there were major drawbacks, including the following: 1. The "doorbell" is a ridiculous fire-alarm style buzzer that is bound to rattle anyone's peaceful sleep. We were woken by...

Thank you for taking the time to review the hostel. I’m disheartened that you were not totally satisfied with your stay. 1-Thanks for bringing to our attention the loud noisy door bell. Steps are being taken to remedy the situation. It is stated on the website that the reception/opening hours for the hostel to receive guests is 8am-10pm. RECEPTION HOURS...

\\many older people would not think of going to a hostel. But the Damascus hostel is good for anyone who likes a welcoming atmosphere and attention from excellent staff. Situated within the town wall, the room we slept in (comfortable double with facilities) looked straight out of the wall. It is minutes walk from Straight Street, , and of course,...

My stay at the Damascus hostel was one of the highlights of my life. Raymond, the owner took care of everything from organising tours and maps to relating old stories of Damascus. The hostel was clean and comfortable and the fellow travellers were a great bunch. Each day we awoke to a traditional Damascan breakfast which was truly sensational. The...
