Hotel Saint Pierre is located a bit far from downtown but it is OK for those who have a car. Maybe it was a very nice hotel with a park and pool in the eighties or nineties, and although it is quite clean, needs some renovation. If the days are hot, air conditioning in the room is not enough. Breakfast was simple, but the restaurtant needs air conditioning too. The staff was very friendly. They provided towels for the beach. No wifi in the rooms, guests must go to lobby for good access to the internet.
I got there with my husband and the manager (I asked who was that guy when we checked out) asked us to pay cash since we got a deal from them. I told him I had an agreement to pay with credit card and he told me I had to pay cash. The woman who I spoke with, named Sabrina wasn't there. The manager was rude, we were tired and we agreed to it, even though it left us with a bad feeling. The hotel is old, the bed was uncomfortable and there was a detergent bottle left in the bathroom and there was a crack on the toilet. I was upset! There was a security box in the closet which was broken. When I asked about it, I was told that the "director" wouldn't advice us too use the security box, but the young woman suggested we use a security box with a key, located in the administration office. She said we would need a key from the director and our key to open the box, really?. I did not leave anything there, I was polite and said thanks. The breakfast did not look fresh. While we were eating, a cleaning lady was using windex to clean a table next to us, the smell was strong and we left. I did not compliant there, since we had one more night to stay there and we paid already and I didn't want to complaint to avoid any retaliation. We stayed there for two nights. We rented a car for a day and we were happy to leave. I complaint to Sabrina who was at the counter when we checked out about the payment and I had to ask for a prove of payment. I didn't want to spend more time there. I wouldn't recommend this hotel which by the way showed 4 stars, I would compare it to a motel like those on tv. We booked this hotel based on the reviews on trip advisor and this is the first time I have to disagree with those reviews.…
We stayed 4 days in this beautiful family run hotel in beginning of January (which is probably the busiest time of the year in punto del este) and had a great time there. The owner and employees were so friendly and helpful always taking care about and having an open ear for their guests. Breakfast was delicious and also the facilities like pool, room etc have been clean and in a very good status. We only can recommend this place. Thanks again for the great stay in Punta del este
