Nice colonial hotel with an Art Deco wing. The Art Deco room was lovely and clean but the floor could have been washed. They moved furniture on the other side of the wall at 6 every morning. The person whe came to hear it laughed, not funny at all. Seems they don't own the rooms around or below their Art...

He had a total of five nights in three different rooms in this hotel. The best most practical room was the cheapest, the other two, were classed as suites which were large rooms with impractical bathrooms. One had a bath on lions feet that rocked, the other suite had a shower inside a bath which had marble surrounds and was...

This is a clean, comfortable boutique hotel, nicely situated in the Candelaria region of Bogata. The rooms are comfortably appointed, and quiet for sleeping. The hotel has a very good breakfast, and the staff are courteous. English is spoken, so communication was not an issue. Although an older building, it has been beautifully upgraded to modern standards.

It is a boutique hotel in a good location for the main sites in Bogota. The building is old with an interesting layout. The rooms are good. Good wifi and has a business centre with PC and printer. Partial buffet breakfast. The bar did not look very inspiring and there are plenty of options nearby.

To enter Columbia we has to go to Bogota first . Staying here for 2 days before exploring the country the de la opera was a good place to be. Quiet area and near to plaza bolivar is not a bad location in Bogota. They claim to be a 5 star but in fact they are something between 3-4 star....

This is a lovely hotel, however, it lacked any kind of personality. No pictures on the wall, no music. Very quiet and subdued atmosphere. Our room for two was nice on the second floor with a balcony over looking the street, which only had pedestrian traffic so that was a plus. The hotel is situated in a great area near...

Lovely olde world style with this centrally located boutique hotel in La Candelaria, next door to the Theatre Colon and close walking distance to all the sights, restaurants, shops, etc. Room was very spacious with a great view over the colonial city skyline. Bathroom was well appointed with a great, spacious shower. Breakfast buffet was quite good with fresh tropical...

Beautiful colonial style hotel in the Candelaria district. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good - usual buffet style plus eggs to order. The hotel was very central for museums etc but the area was very quiet at night time and we struggled to find places to go to for dinner although we found a lovely steak...

This hotel is located in the old, colonial section of Bogota called La Candelaria. The quarter is nice during daylight, not so much at night. During daytime on each crossing of the small streets there were 2-4 soldiers with firearms giving you a safe feel. Very close to the famous Gold Museum and to the main place of the city....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hotel de la Opera is located in La Candelaria, next to the Cristobal Colon Theater, in front of "Palacio San Carlos", currently headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, one block from Bolivar Square and a fifteen minutes walk to the funicular for Monserrate hill. Thanks to its strategic location, our guests can easily visit the most characteristic places of the city, for example the Gold Museum, Botero Museum, Primary Cathedral, etc. Also, many important government buildings are nearby. Walking its roads you will be part of its stories, legends and myths which are preserved in each of its houses. Questions like, why do the houses have doors of two meters? Where did Manuelita Saenz live her idyll with Simon Bolivar? Which is the window through which Simon Bolivar escaped? These are just some examples of the cultural treasures that you will find in La Candelaria. ... more   less
