I lived at the Hotel Chaco for 3 weeks. Although the hotel's decor is dated, it has many aspects that make it a great place to stay. The staff are great and even put up with my terrible Spanish. They went out of their way to make sure I had a great stay and were always willing to help me with...

The cockroach in the bathroom the first night gave me an immediate bad taste of Hotel Chaco that. Just one, but it totally freaked me out. As the other reviews noted, yes, the rooms are horribly dated--like a bad episode of House Hunters. But that didn't bother me too much--actually, it was kind cool (I think they call it "Vintage?")...

I spent many nights in the Chaco during my first time in Paraguay last year, and came back here for the second time. The rooms are very dated; I stayed in a better room last year. This time, they gave me a (very) noisy and crumbling single bed. It's a throwback in the 70'. Restaurant is nothing special, but the...

This hotel is fine for a short stay in Asuncion. The décor was rather dated but comfortable. The breakfast buffet was acceptable rather than notable but the staff were charming. They had time to chat and patiently listened and responded to my shaky Spanish. This was my first visit to Paraguay and it was on the itinerary of my fabulous...

The hotel has a nice "chic" feel, which was the main reason that I chose to live here. The style is cool, and the hotel is clean. The staff is really nice and the location downtown Asuncion is very central, if you want to live in the old part of the town. The hotel also felt very safe. I measured...

I've stayed at this hotel on three occasions and have found it to be very charming. It is not a modern hotel by any means, but I mean that as a complement. The rooms are clean. The staff is helpful and friendly. It is located in downtown Asuncion in close proximity to many government offices and excellent restaurants. There is...

The Hotel Chaco is an older hotel but it is in a good location for sightseeing and the rooms are nice enough. Our room had a nice view across the river into Argentina. The hotel is within walking distance of most of the local attractions and they have a parking lot around the corner. Also there is a restaurant in...

Without doubt this hotels best days are behind it, but given the level of tourism in Paraguay and the competition locally it is actually one of the better places to stay. The decor is very dated, looking like something I would have expected to find behind the iron curtain 20 years ago. But that said everything worked. The bedding and...

Secure hotel with facilities to store valuables, but dated rooms. Felt like we were in 1980s East Germany! Good location only couple of blocks from main square, but breakfast were a disappointment. I don't think the needs or even the concept of a tourist is completely understood.
